Round 1 – Heleno (red trunks). Trinaldo (black trunks). Trinaldo front kick. Heleno stalking, shoots, clinches, pushes Trinaldo to the cage, double underhooks wrestling for the takedown. Knee from Trinaldo to the body, another one. They continue to wrestle. Punch and a couple nice knees from Trinaldo as Heleno persists with the takedown attempt. Trinaldo’s back to the cage, Heleno with wrist control, drops levels, shoots. Trinaldo gives him a knee and a couple punches. Heleno stands up but persists with the takedown attempt holding onto the single leg. Trinaldo with an elbow, body strikes and a knee to the body. Heleno is putting out a ton of effort here, he may be burnt out as Trinaldo starts giving him some hammerfists over and over until Heleno just covers up and Herb Dean stops the fight.

Anistavio Medeiros vs. Rodrigo Damm
Round 1 – Damm (black trunks). Medeiros (red trunks). Damm with a leg kick. Medeiros with a leg kick, then checks Damm’s next leg kick attempt. They trade punches. Leg kick from Medeiros. Medeiros lands a kick to the groin. Briefly they get a pause. Damm lands a left that stuns Medeiros, lands a right that drops Medeiros and Damm hops on his back, they roll, hooks in, choke locked, and Medeiros taps out. Look for Rodrigo Damm to make a big impact in the UFC — mark my words. Beautiful finish by the brother of Carina Damm.

Yuri Alcantara vs. Hacran Dias
Round 1 – Dias looks for the takedown, takes a knee from Alcantara. Dias gets him down and works from top. Alcantara with a butterfly, now half guard. Dias lands a couple nice punches. Dias looks to be setting up a head and arm choke, gives him some left hands to the body to soften him up. Alcantara gets to his feet very briefly but gets put right back down on his back. Dias on top inside full guard. Yuri gets to one knee. Takes some big knees to the thigh. Yuri scrambles and gets Dias from behind as they stand. Dias looking for a standing kimura. Round 2 – Dias puts Yuri on his back. Yuri goes for an armbar, it’s locked up but Dias escapes and works from inside full guard landing body shots. Dias stacks him, moves to half guard at the direction of his coaches. Dias maintaining top control but not doing much damage. Ref stands them up. Couple of left hands before the bell from Yuri. Werdum attacks with several right hands as Russow turtles up and this fight is over after the Chicago policeman takes several punches. Russow can be heard saying, “I don’t even know what happened.”

Softens Jason up with body shots. Jason with his own body shots. Pepey warned for hitting back of the head. Ref stands them up. Big leg kick from Jason. Pepey rushes in and eats a flying knee. Pepey jumps guard and gets slammed. Elbows to the head from Pepey. Jason inside full guard. More elbows from Pepey. Body shots from Jason, more elbows from Pepey. PMN scores the round 10-9 Jason.

Round 3 – Fight of the year in the making. Best fight I’ve seen in a long time. Rich comes out strong right in Wand’s face just like he started the fight. Big left to the body from Rich. Blocks a head kick from Wand. Left kick to the body from Rich. Again. Head kick attempt from Franklin. Wand goes under it. Body kick from Rich. Not much on it. One two from Wand. Body kick from Rich. Left from Rich. Big left from Rich and he takes Wand to the ground. Rich in half guard on top. Lands a couple big elbows, stands over him and lands some punches to make a statement to end the round. Rich 10-9.
Round 4 – Pretty much a repeat of last round before it went to the ground. Rich takes a kick to the groin with about 1:10 left in this round. Left right from Rich. Left right from Rich, jab. Left from Wand, right counter after taking a kick. Jab from Rich, and a left. Wand swings wild before the bell.
Round 5 – They hug at the beginning. Wand has coasted through the last two rounds. Rich using a lot of footwork and boxing. Nice left from Rich. Left hook from Wand. Left to the body from Rich. This fight started out so good. Not sure what happened except that Wand must have punched himself out. Right jab from Rich. Nice left to the body, right to the head from Rich. Nice jab. Left from Rich. Looks like a sparring match. Left from Wand. Right from Rich. Right from Wand after calling for the crowd. Wand chasing him now. Right from Wand. Another right. Jab from Rich. With 10 seconds left Rich drops Wand, but he gets up before the bell. They saved their energy I guess to put on a big ending. Two veterans who know how to put on a show. Definitely fight of the night. Could have been epic. Rich should have the round 10-9.

Rich said after the second round, he didn’t remember anything until it was the fifth round. Rich said the plan is to go back to 185 and make one more title run before he retires.
