A middleweight match-up between the hard-hitting Constantinos Philippou and knockout specialist Jared “The Messenger” Hamman has been added to UFC 140 on Dec. 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed Tuesday via their website (www.ufc.com) that both fighters had verbally agreed to the bout.

Philippou (8-2, 1 NC)  has gone 1-1 inside the UFC Octagon since signing with the promotion earlier this year. In his promotional debut he lost a unanimous decision to Nick Catone at  UFC 128 in March, then rebounded with a split decision win over Jorge Rivera at UFC 133 in August.

Hamman (13-3) has gone 2-2 inside the UFC Octagon since signing with the promotion in 2009 and has picked up two “Fight of the Night” bonuses in the process. Hamman last fought in August at UFC on Versus 5 where he picked up a second round TKO win over C.B. Dollaway. Ten of Hamman’s 13 victories have come by way of knockout.

UFC 140 is headlined with a light heavyweight title fight between current champion Jon “Bones” Jones and former champ Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida. For the full fight card line-up see ProMMAnow.com’s Upcoming Events page.
