At 42 years old, Kazushi Sakuraba will continue his MMA career. He will meet Nova Uniao product Yan Cabral at Dream 17, which takes place Sept. 24 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

On New Year’s Eve, the former Pride FC star dropped his third fight in a row to Dream welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis. Since 2008, Sakuraba is only 3-5. During the days of Pride FC, the veteran built his name on the fact that he would literally fight anyone regardless of weight. He holds victories over Renzo Gracie, Quinton Jackson, Vitor Belfort, Guy Mezger and Ken Shamrock.

Cabral holds an undefeated record as a professional fighter. The welterweight last fought in 2010 when he submitted Djordje Beric with an arm-triangle choke.

Dream 17 will feature the first round of the promotion’s World Bantamweight Grand Prix. Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will also meet former WEC champion Rob McCullough in a non-title fight.
