MILWAUKEE, Wis. — UFC on Versus 5 a.k.a. UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle takes place this evening at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis. Englishman Dan Hardy takes on veteran Chris Lytle at welterweight in the main event.

Apparently this is Lytle’s final bout. He will be retiring after tonight’s bout, win or lose. Lytle has been a great asset to the company and to the sport and he’s going to be missed by all. He wants to spend more time with his family.

(135) Jason Reinhardt vs. Edwin Figueroa

Round 1 – They are taking their time circling each other, Reinhardt on the outside. Ref tells them they need to engage. Figueroa throws a high kick at the retreating Reinhardt. Figueroa lands a right that drops Reinhardt. Reinhardt shoots and Figueroa locks up a guillotine. Reinhardt picks him in the air for a slam, lays him down on the mat. They scramble, and Reinhardt takes his back with both hooks in. He softens Figueroa up with punches, still on his back, looking for the choke. Figueroa spins and is on top. Reinhardt looks for an armbar. Figueroa stands and lands a right. Reinhardt gets up, shoots sloppily. Stands, inside leg kick from Figueroa, right hand from Reinhardt. Reinhardt gets put on his back, inside full guard with one minute to go. Reinhardt seems very tentative on his feet. Figueroa wants to make sure it doesn’t go back to the feet and throws a barrage of punches while standing over Reinhardt who is on his back trying to block the shots. Round ends and Reinhardt has a hard time getting up. 10-9 Figueroa.

Round 2 – Figueroa stalking. Reinhardt shoots, stuffed. Figueroa with a low kick but Reinhardt shoots into it, stuffed, and Figueroa puts him on his back, gets full mount and punches Reinhardt until the ref stops it. Reinhardt doesn’t even make it up for the winner announcement.

(155) Danny Castillo vs. Jacob Volkmann

Round 1 – Volkmann stalking, clinch, knee from Castillo to the body. They separate and square up. Left hook from Castillo, then a big inside leg kick. Castillo misses a head kick. Inside leg kick. Volkmann trying to find his range. Castillo lands another inside leg kick. Volkmann shoots, puts Castillo on his back. Volkmann locks up a D’arce from half guard on top. They roll, Volkmann adjusts but Castillo is free and on top inside full guard. Volkmann makes it to his feet. Knee from Castillo from the clinch. Volkmann pulls out and they square up. Left straight from Volkmann, big body kick from Castillo scores, he shoots for a single against the cage. Volkmann putting weight forward and hanging on to Castillo to prevent the full takedown. Volkmann putting punches to the ribs in the meantime. Castillo persistent in his takedown attempt, still holding the leg until time runs out. 10-9 Volkmann.

Round 2 – Castillo misses a big uppercut, shoots and puts Volkmann against the cage. Lands a nice elbow. Puts Volkmann on his back but Volkmann locks on a D’arce and it seems tight but lets it go. Volkmann with his back against the cage. Ref warns Castillo not to grab the shorts or he’ll take a point. They stand and Volkmann has Castillo’s head in a guillotine, lets it go. Castillo holding a single puts Volkmann on his back. Volkmann gets to his knees and driving the shot on Castillo and puts him on his back. Nice turnaround from Volkmann. He locks on an arm triangle briefly. Volkmann in top control from half guard. Castillo hangs on to a single but gives his neck to Volkmann who locks on a very tight D’arce. Castillo twists out of it but Volkmann locks it on again and is on top. Only ten seconds left and he lets it go before the bell. 10-9 Volkmann.

Round 3 – Body shot from Castillo then a lunging right hand. Big inside leg kick from Castillo. Volkmann shoots from far out, stuffed. Clinched up, knee from Volkmann. They separate and square up. Leg kick from Castillo but Volkmann shoots and puts him on his back. Volkmann in half guard on top, locks up a D’arce once again. Knee to the ribs from the bottom from Castillo, more knees. Elbows from Volkmann from top. Volkmann locks on the D’arce once again, still in half guard. he moves out of half guard, then back to half guard, to side control, to half guard, but Volkmann just can’t seem to finish it. Castillo squirming, spins out but is still on the bottom as Volkmann appears to be setting up the D’arce again. He locks it on, lands an elbow, locks it back on. Knees from the bottom from Castillo. Elbows from Volkmann. Castillo rolls out. Volkmann takes his back and Castillo rolls at the bell. 10-9, 30-27 for Volkmann as I see it.

(155) T.J. O’Brien vs. Cole Miller

Round 1 – Check out our pre-fight interview with O’Brien. Leg kick from O’Brien. Again, checked. Left jab from O’Brien blocked. O’Brien is a tall tall lightweight. They are trying to find their distance. One two from Miller. Leg kick from O’Brien, then a head kick, checked and blocked. Left hook from O’Brien, then a nice body shot. Head kick from Miller. Left jab, one two misses. O’Brien hunts with a punch combo, followed by a leg kick. Combo of punches from Miller blocked, he scores with a leg kick. Leg kick from O’Brien. Left jab from Miller. O’Brien gets hit with a big right hook, big leg kick from Miller. Nice left jab from Miller. Miller checked one of O’Brien’s leg kicks earlier and it looked like it hurt O’Brien. Left hook to the body from O’Brien. Good round and close. Miller 10-9.

Round 2 – Left hook from Miller blocked, he lands a nice leg kick. Leg kick and front kick from O’Brien, then a jab. Nice jab and left hook from Miller. Front kick from O’Brien. Left jab and left hook from Miller, he drops O’Brien with a counter left hook. O’Brien is on his back and Miller lands several kicks to his thighs. He holds O’Brien’s foot and kicks the thigh. Guillotine attempt from Miller as O’Brien tries to get up. He locks in on with one hand and locks his legs in a body triangle around O’Brien, it’s very tight and O’Brien taps out.

(145) Jim Hettes vs. Alex Caceres

Caceres dances to the cage while James Brown gets down. He’s still dancing in the cage. Be sure to check out our video interview with Bruce Leroy (Alex) which is currently posted over there to the right in our sidebar.

Round 1 – Leg kick from Alex stumbles Hettes. Alex gets clipped but walks through it and attacks with strikes. Side kick from Alex but Hettes grabs it and goes for a takedown. Hettes ends up on the bottom eating punches. Hettes grabs a leg, looking for a submission. Alex with a hammerfist and big punches from the top. Hettes still looking for a leg, gets to his feet and gets the takedown. Alex with full guard, half a butterfly guard. Hettes trying to punish with punches from top. Alex reverses and is standing over Hettes with punches. Hettes continually moving looking for a leg and trips Alex to his back. Hettes inside guard as Alex fights off his back. Left hand from Hettes. Alex throws up an omoplata, sweeps Hettes. Back to the feet. Hettes shoots, Wizzer from Alex and he gets free. It goes to the ground as Hettes goes for an ankle lock. Alex punches him, Hettes uses leg to take top position, elbow and a left hand. Fast paced round with a lot of action. 10-9 Alex.

Round 2 – Alex ducks a hook. Hettes throws Alex with a judo toss. Hettes locks up a choke but Alex gets free and they are to their feet. Alex looking for a kimura as Hettes takes him down. Hettes takes Alex’s back after releasing an arm triangle. Hettes in half guard. Alex grabs a leg, lets it go and gets up. Hettes drops down for a guillotine attempt, they roll and Alex is free. Hettes with a triangle attempt, Alex is free as it goes back to the feet. Hettes goes for a single, lets it go and judo throws Alex again to the mat. Hettes on top in side control. Looks for a crucifix. Hettes bleeding a little. It goes to the feet and Hettes locks on a rear naked choke, then jumps on Alex’s back, they go to the ground and Alex taps out. Big win for Hettes and a great fight.

(205) Ronny Markes vs. Karlos Vemola

Round 1 – Vemola comes forward swinging, they tie up and Markes puts him against the cage. Knee to the thigh from Markes, again, again, more. Body shot from Vemola. Vemola ducks an elbow. Markes backs out and they swing for the fences. Body kcik from Vemola, he swings wildly and misses. Markes puts him on the ground with his back against the cage. Markes gives him some right hands to the face. Vemola gets to his feet but gets slammed on his back right away. Vemola with palm strikes to the head. Vemola gets to his feet and gets put right back down. Two minutes to go and Vemola eats some punches. Vemola has never been out of round one. Vemola gets up and taken down again. He’s using his back against the cage, trying to get up again. One minute to go. Vemola has a loose guillotine, lets it go and gets up but Markes still pressing him to the cage. Twenty five seconds to go. Markes lands a knee to the body, he gets a takedown with full mount but Vemola locks on a guillotine as Markes stands back up…it’s a standing guillotine as the bell sounds. 10-9 Markes.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Markes and Vemola shoots, presses Markes against the cage as he gets caught in a guillotine. Vemola is free, lands a big right, stalking, Markes puts him on his back with a swift takedown. Markes in half guard landing punches from the top. Vemola kicks Markes off and stands up. Markes pops him with a big right and immediately puts him back down. Markes punishing with ground and pound from inside full guard. Vemola throws his legs up and gets to his feet as Markes backs up. Markes with a knee to the body, again, as he has Vemola pressed to the cage. Vemola looking tired. Knees to the thighs from Markes. Knee to the body and thighs from Markes. Ref calls for action. Huge knee to the body and a right hand from Markes. Markes puts Vemola back down with a trip. Elbow from Markes. A few boos from the crowd. Markes opens up with some punches as he moves to straight side control. Vemola with his feet on the cage trying to defend. 10-9 Markes.

Round 3 – Vemola comes in swinging, shoots and presses Markes to the cage. Markes reverses, knee to the body and pressing Vemola to the cage like he has done both previous rounds. It looks like Vemola may not be training with a cage. Markes puts Vemola on his back. Elbow strikes from the top from Markes. Vemola with full guard, he boxes Marke’s ears from off his back. Just under three minutes to go. Markes moves to half guard. Elbows and punches from Markes, moves to side control. Markes finishes out the round  with top control and ground and pound. Rogan says, “He played it safe in the end but it was all Ronny Markes.” The crowd boos at the sound of the bell.

(185) Kyle Noke vs. Ed Herman

Round 1 – Front kick from Noke, leg kick, eats a left. Herman stops a takedown and Herman tosses him on his back. Noke gets up and puts Herman down. Herman uses the cage to spin around and is looking for an armbar, attacking both arms. Then switches to a triangle. Elbow from Herman. Noke tries to pull out, stands up. Herman lets it go. Noke with punches to the body and a big elbow. Herman throws up his legs for another triangle attempt. Herman has one arm in an omoplata type position then goes for an armbar on the other arm. Noke is almost out but Herman adjusts and has it again. Noke is out, takes top control with half guard and punishes with elbows and punches. Noke tries to mount but Herman goes for a leg. Noke punches, but Herman locks on a heel hook and cranks that baby and Mr. Kyle Noke tries to roll but he is locked in and Noke taps out. Wow! Herman was relentless chaining those sub attempts together. The doctors are looking at Noke’s knee as he needs assistance getting to his feet.

(135) Joseph Benavidez vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1 – Leg kick from Benavidez. Left lunging hand from Benavidez. Body kick from Benavidez is caught. Leg kick from Benavidez. Again, to the inside this time. Left hand counter from Wineland. Leg kick from Benavidez. Again. Benavidez busted up just a little under his left eye. Front kick misses from Benavidez. Big overhand right staggers Wineland, he lands another and a left and Wineland’s face is very read and bleeding out his nose. Big leg kick from Benavidez. Wineland keeps pawing at his nose because of the blood. His noxe is pouring blood down his face as he moves around. It’s very likely broken. Rogan keeps saying the blood is pouring out like a faucet. Leg kick from Benavidez. Body kick from Benavidez is blocked, again, counter right from Wineland. 10-9 Benavidez.

Round 2 – Overhand left from Benavidez, leg kick. Big leg kick from Benavidez. Benavidez shakes his hand, delivers a head kick. Body kick. Leg kick. Body kick. Counter right from Wineland and Benavidez turns away like he got poked in the eye. Wineland attacks and the ref does not stop it. They square back up. Right hand from Benavidez. Left hand from Benavidez. Overhand right connects. Benavidez shoots, stuffed. Benavidez kicks the inside leg twice from the clinch. They let go and square up. Benavidez shoots, stuffed. Knees to the body from both guys. Benavidez tires a hip toss, falls to his back but immediately pops to his feet. Leg kick from Benavidez. Left hand from Benavidez. He shoots and gets Wineland down almost as he balances on one hand. Benavidez 10-9.

Round 3 – Benavidez lands a counter right hook that staggers Wineland. He slips to the ground himself though and gets right up. Leg kick from Benavidez. He lands a combo punch and Wineland goes back staggering. Benavidez runs at him and throws a flying knee. Wineland catches him in the air and Benavidez looks like he is floating for about one second and just lands on his feet like it was completely normal. Spinning backfist from Benavidez and Wineland ducks. Inside leg kick right hand from Benavidez was beautiful. Benavidez fakes a shot and Wineland sprawls. Two minutes to go. Leg kick from Benavidez., fakes a shot. Wineland catches a front kick and lands a nice right. Leg kick and a shot from Benavidez. Wineland sprawls and they’re back to the feet. Counter right from Benavidez. The crowd cheers loudly with 10 seconds to go. 10-9, 30-27 for Benavidez.

(185) Jared Hamman vs. C.B. Dollaway

Round 1 – Dollaway walks out to one of the Highwaymen classics (the greatest “country” group of all time). This is Hamman’s middleweight debut. Leg kick from Hamman, again. Nice right and leg kick from Hamman, left hook. Dollaway shoots, gets the takedown, Hamman pops up but Dollaway puts him back down. Hamman gets to his knees and Dollaway tries to take his back. Hamman gets up but Dollaway puts him down, gets full mount. Hamman gives up his back. They roll and Dollaway ends up on top with a triangle choke. Hamman just waiting trying to defend the choke. He’s free as Dollaway tries to mount. Hamman looks for a leg as Dollaway postures up, stands over Hamman and lands a couple big right hands on the button. Hamman gets up and Dollaway shoots, tries to takes his back and slips off the top. Hamman inside full guard, body shots and Dollaway throws elbows off his back. Hamman stands, kicks the thighs, dives into side control. Hamman mounts. Dollaway gives up his back and Hamman lands big rights. Hamman stands up and Dollaway rocks him and staggers him with some big punches, Dollaway jumps on top of him with punches as the bell sounds. Great action. 10-9 Dollaway.

Round 2 – Hamman is cut under his right eye. Left straight from Hamman on the chin. Body kick from Dollaway. Left jab from Hamman. Six punch combo from Hamman. Dollaway shoots, stuffed. Hamman goes back to punching as Dollaway covers up. Hamman continues trying to find the opening. The fight goes to the ground and Hamman punishing with ground and pound. Dollaway trying to cover up but he’s eating some shots. He’s being relentless with his attack. Lands three elbows and gets a mounted crucifix, moves to full mount. Dollaway covers up but Hamman punishes continuously. Herb Dean tells Dollaway to do something. Dollaway gets out briefly but Hamman puts him back down and continues landing shots. Sopme big shots are landing. Ref warns him one more time and it’s over. Dollaway’s face is beat to a pulp.

(170) Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah

Round 1 – Leg kick from Amir. Left punch scores for Amir. They clinch. Amir tries to drop levels but Ludwig uses a wizzer to turn him around and put a knee to the thighs and body. More knees. Amir turns him around with knww of his own, Bang gives him back. Both guys with the collar tie exchanging knees. Amir drops levels for the takedown but Bang stops it and pushes him to the cage. Amir backs out and they exchange punches and kicks, both guys landing some good shots, looks about even so far. Body kick from Bang. Beautiful Muay Thai fight so far. Nice left straight from Bang. Amir is hurt and Bang is picking him apart. Amir was staggered with a punch. One two from Bang, another one two. Big left hook. He’s picking Amir apart, he’s faster and his punches have more power than Amir right now. Big leg kick from Bang. 10-9 Ludwig.

Round 2 – Front kick from Amri, he gets tagged with a one two. Amir with a leg kick. Leg kick again. Again. Straight left from Amir. Leg kick from both guys. Bang with a leg kick, collar tie and a knee to the face. Leg kick from Amir, misses a head kick. Huge left counter from Bang lands on the ching and it makes Amir shoot, stuffed. Right hand from Amir, counter from Bang scores. Body body head kick from Bang. Leg kick Amir. Front kick from Amir. Right hand from Bang. Lots of strikes being thrown. Amir is hurt by a left hook, They exchange knees from the clinch. Amir shoots, stuffed. Knee from Bang. Front kick from Amir to the mid-section. Leg kick from Amir and Bang shoots. Amir sprawls. They stand, clinched, and they separate. Duane lands a couple punches and a step in elbow. Leg kick from Amir, left hook from Ludwig. Close round but I give it 10-9 to Ludwig.

Round 3 – They exchange some shots, Amir shoots, stuffed. Inside leg kick from Amir, again. Front kick from Amir, straight left. Duane slowing down. Front kick from Amir. He shoots, stuffed. They stand up. Straight right from Amir, lands a one two. Front kick to the chin from Amir backs Bang up. Front kick to the body from Amir. Bang lands a one two. Amir shoots, stuffed. Front kick from Amir. Leg kick and front kick from Amir. Amir is out-scoring Bang in this round, but will it be too late? Inside leg kick from Amir but he eats a combo. I’m curious on the number of strikes landed and thrown in this fight. It is a TON, I know that. One minute to go. One two from Amir and Bang lands a couple rights. Great back and forth action with 40 seconds to go. Bang shoots and puts Amir down on his butt. Ten seconds to go. Bang puts him down and lands a couple punches. 10-9 for Amir but 29-28 for Bang as I see it — However, I have to say this too: Round two was very close and it could go either way. This fight could be a draw really. I think round one was obviously Bang, round three obviously Amir. It’s all about how the judges score round two.

We’ve just heard reports and Goldy just announced that striking coach Shawn Tompkins has passed away. We don’t have any details yet so stay tuned for that. Very very very sad. I met Shawn once at the open workout when he was coaching Junie and he fought in Nashville for the UFC. Always seemed like a really straight up and cool guy.

(155) Donald Cerrone vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1 – Cerrone attacking with strikes. Oliveira shoots, stuffed. Lands a leg kick. Straight left. Leg kick from Cowboy. He checks Oliveira’s leg kick. Knee to the body from Cowboy, stuffs a takedown attempt. Low kick from Cowboy hits the thigh but also caught Oliveira on the nuggets. Time out is called. Leg kick from Cowboy. Leg kick from Cowboy. Clinch, separate. Front kick from Oliveira. Inside leg kick from Cowboy. Body kick from Oliveira. One two leg kick from Cowboy. Striaght right on the button from Cowboy. Nice left hook to the body. Oliveira goes down. Cowboy stands over him and rains punches. Oliveira covers up but the ref steps in and stops it. Cowboy just picked up his very first TKO win if you can believe that.

(155) Jim Miller vs. Benson Henderson

Round 1 – Right hand from Miller. They exchange several times with neither landing anything too solid due to great defense from both guys. They clinch, knee from Henderson to the thigh. Knee to the gut. Miller locks on a standing arm triangle, he’s wrapped around Henderson’s waist. Miller lets it go and Henderson drops down on top of him on the ground. Miller with mission control, lets it go. Henderson with an elbow to the face. Miller gets to this knees. He stands. They exchange knees from the clinch. Henderson with a body lock. Miller looking for a kimura and they drop to the ground. Miller lands a body shot, another one. Miller gets to his knees. Henderson had his neck but Miller grabs Henderson’s neck in a guillotine and ends up on bottom eating shots. Miller tries to get up but Henderson holds him down and drops a big right bomb. Henderson 10-9.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Henderson. Right hook from Miller. Henderson lands a right. Miller comes forward but Henderson attacks with a combo and slams Miller to his back. Miller with full guard. Elbow from Henderson.  Body shot from Henderson. There is a TON on the line here for Miller. He rolls for a leg lock.  Henderson misses a big elbow and rains down punches. Miller has the kneebar locked up. Henderson slowly pulls it out and they jump to their feet. Miller is bleeding. Henderson puts him back on the ground. Miller grabs the leg for a heel hook. Henderson lands two huge right hands and Miller covers up. He gets to his feet, face is bloody and Henderson slams him hard. I can’t believe how Henderson is overpowering him. Miller has a kimura. But Henderson defending well. Twenty-five seconds to go. Miller grabs a leg but he eats some big big punches. 10-9 Henderson.

Round 3 – Inside leg kick from Henderson, front kick. Straight right jab from Henderson. Leg kick. Inside leg kick from Henderson. Miller lands a right but Henderson kicks Miller’s leg out from under him, he falls briefly but gets up and goes back to exchanging. Miller drops Henderson with a right hand. Miller tries to attack but Henderson shoots and puts him on his back. Henderson rares way way back and lands two BIG right hands. He takes Miller’s back. He stands. Miller tries to flip and roll. Henderson looking for the choke. Miller gets to his knees. Two minutes left. Henderson unleashes some big shots as Miller tries to cover up. Miller gets to his knees. Henderson pushes him over on his back. Big punches and big punishment from Henderson. No one has EVER done this to Miller. Forty seconds to go. Henderson on top. Miller gets to his feet and Henderson rolls with a guillotine attempt. Lets it go. Knee to the body from Henderson and Miller is up and chasing Henderson, lands a right, he’s chasing him and the bell sounds. Hardy clips him with a left hook, then a jab, left hook. Right hand from Lytle then a nice left. Right to the body. These guys are going at it. Big shots from both guys. Lylte lands a big left, he’s hunting and Hardy tags him with a counter. Leg kick from Hardy. Big body shot from Lytle. Overhand right from Lytle rocks Hardy. Big left hook from Lytle. One two from Lytle knocks Hardy’s head back. Left hook from Lytle. Again. Hardy becoming a stationary target. 10-9 Lytle.

Round 2 – Left hook from Lytle then a left right, another left hook. Huge right hook to the body from Lytle, oh my that was nasty. He does it again. Again. Right to the face. hardy with a one two, body shot. Left hook from Lytle but Hardy rocks him with a right, another right rocks Lytle and he clinches up with Hardy. Knee to the body from Hardy. Huge right hook to the body from Lytle. Hardy gets poked in the eye and time is given to recover. Overhand right and a right to the body from Lytle. Hardy hurts Lytle with an uppercut. Hardy shoots, sprawl from Lytle and they are back up. Two overhand rights from Lytle. Knee to the face and a one two from Hardy. It’s turned into a boxing match with both guys throwing bombs from the pocket trying to see who has the better chin almost. Body shot from Lytle. Left hook. Hardy has forgotten about his kicks. Round 3 – This needs to be a five-rounder, or maybe not, if someone can finish it. Left hook, side kick from Lytle. Left hook from Hardy. Side kick from Lytle. Left to the face from Lytle. Right to the kidney twice from Lytle. Left to the face. Leg kick from Hardy. Right to the body left to the face from Lytle. Leg kick from Lytle. Overhand right. Lytle has better combos than Hardy. Left to the body from Lytle. Hardy needs to mix it up  more. Overhand right from Lytle. Body shot. Left hook to the face. Left hook. Hardy is getting out-pointed badly in this round. Knee right hand from Hardy. Body shot from Lytle, body kick. Left to the face. Body shot. Body shot. Left hand. Right hand from Hardy and Hardy is hunting. He shoots, Lytle locks up a guillotine, is on top of him and Hardy is about to go out and taps out. Now folks……. that is how you end a pro MMA career my friends! That is how you do it!  An exciting two rounds and a submission. No one can ever say Chris Lytle did not give it his all! We applaud you sir. — Now the question regarding Hardy is, will he be cut after this performance — his fourth straight loss in the UFC? In my opinion they should let him go clean up his record outside the organization but have him back to fight in England or something like that.

Lytle brings his kids into the Octagon and says he loves fighting more than anything, except his family and said it’s time he starts putting them first.
