Dan Miller (left) takes another fight on short notice at UFC 134 when he faces Rousimar Palhares in Rio de Janeiro.

Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira (18-7) will not be fighting in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 27 in what would have been just his second UFC bout.

Replacing the injured Brazilian at UFC 134 will be New Jersey middleweight Dan Miller (13-5, 1 NC), who also took his last fight on short notice, stepping in against Nate Marquardt (31-10-2) at UFC 128 on less than a week out.

Miller will be going up against fellow BJJ black belt Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares (12-3) who is coming off a second round kneebar submission win over Dave Branch (9-2) back in March in Louisville.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the match-up Wednesday afternoon:

“Dan Miller lives up to his motto of ‘anyone, anyplace, anytime’ by stepping up against Rousimar Palhares at UFC 134 after original opponent Alexandre Ferreira pulled out of the fight.”

UFC 134 will take place at HSBC Arena on Saturday, Aug. 27, and will feature a middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva (30-4) and number one contender Yushin Okami (26-5) in the main event.
