Chael Sonnen (left) will face Brian Stann at UFC 136 in October.
Former number one middleweight contender Chael Sonnen (25-11-1) and former WEC light heavyweight champ Brian Stann (11-3)  will lock horns in a 185-pound bout at UFC 136, expected to take place Oct. 6 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Verbal agreements are in place for the bout according to a report from the UFC on Wednesday.

Sonnen has not fought since losing via triangle choke/armbar submission in his epic 23-minute bout with middleweight champ Anderson Silva (30-4) at UFC 117 last August.

Stann last fought in May of this year when he won “Fight of the Night” honors by scoring a second round TKO win over Jorge Santiago (23-9) at UFC 130.

Other bouts scheduled for UFC 136 include a lightweight title fight rematch between champion Frankie Edgar (13-1-1) and Gray Maynard, and a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo (19-1) and Kenny Florian (15-5).
