The UFC on Jan. 6 confirmed the lineup for its UFC Live on Versus 3 fight card on March 3, headlined by a welterweight match-up between Diego Sanchez (22-4) and Martin Kampmann (17-4).
After years campaigning at 170, Sanchez had worked his way up to a titleshot at 155. But after a lopsided loss to then-champion B.J. Penn, Sanchez returned to 170, suffering a decision loss to John Hathaway but bouncing back with an impressive win against Paulo Thiago.
Kampmann, meanwhile, had won four of his last five until his UFC 121 bout with title contender Jake Shields. Although he dominated Shields on the feet and hurt him badly in the third round, Kampmann was unable to fend of Shields’s takedown attempts and lost a split decision.
In the co-main event, middleweight C.B. Dollaway will square off against Mark Munoz in a battle of two talented former collegiate wrestlers.
Other rumored bouts for the event include former WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles vs. Damacio Page and Alexandre Ferreira vs. Rousimar Palhares.
