Frank Shamrock announced his retirement tonight during Showtime’s live broadcast of “Fedor vs. Werdum“.

The 37-year-old fighter thanked his friends and family and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker.

Shamrock has transitioned into the role of commentator and coach. He will likely always be involved with mixed martial arts in one way or another, but no longer as a competitor.

Shamrock holds a professional record of 23-10-2. He was the first UFC middleweight champion.
