Longtime MMA promotion Gladiator Challenge has 14 big bouts scheduled on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino in Wendover, Nev. The fight card, entitled “Gold Rush,” was originally supposed to be headlined by UFC veteran, “Mr. International,” Shonie Carter.

Carter, who is unable to appear for undisclosed reasons, will be replaced by Gladiator Challenge veterans Lee Doss (12-8) taking on the heavily experienced Jake “The Snake” Paul (12-13) in the main event.

In the co-main event, ex-training partner of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans, “Coach” Chris McLeod of the High Desert Hitmen out of Elko, Nev., will face newcomer Andy Medina.

This will be the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino’s first time to host a Gladiator Challenge event. Wendover Nugget General Manager said, “We’re very excited to bring Gladiator Challenge and its MMA action to the Nugget. We’ve been looking for a way to bring new excitement to our venue, and MMA is the perfect way to do this. We’re extremely pleased to have an agreement with Tedd Williams and Gladiator Challenge, and we’re looking forward to a long, mutually-beneficial relationship.”

Gladiator Challenge Owner and Promoter Tedd Williams spoke about a new agreement between his promotion and the Nugget which will bring high-level MMA action to Wendover on a regular basis, “Gladiator Challenge is always happy to bring the sport of MMA to new venues, and we’re very pleased that the Wendover Nugget Hotel & Casino will be the next site to enjoy all the action. We plan to hold between three and six events a year at the Nugget, and we feel confident that this agreement will bring new customers to the Nugget, while exposing the Gladiator Challenge brand of MMA to a new area of fight fans.”

  1. Chris Mcleod is a bitch that likes to run his lips Andy Medins is going to help him shut them, Mcleod talks like he’s some big name fighter in reality he’s just a no name, never was fag that cant control his emotions. I’m calling it now Medina in the second, Andy fuck this bitch up! He’s all talk and no walk.

  2. Gorilla Chris – How’d that work out for your boy who got his face smashed in less than two minutes????? Feel free to use your real name and say that to McLeod’s face…Or be a half-a-sissy internet troll. Gorilla Chris? You couldn’t come up with anything better than that lol. Hope you saw the fight last night…it was funny watching them carry that Andy clown out of the cage.

  3. A note on the article itself…Coach McLeod is the head coach for the High Desert Hitmen from Elko, NV. There is NO HIGHWAY Hitmen as it is stated above and Andy Medina is not the “head trainer” of any team.
