According to M1 Global’s official website, the long awaited match-up between WAMMA Heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and WAMMA number one contender and former UFC Heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett will be signed for Affliction 3, barring any setbacks.

President of M1 Global, Vadim Finkelchtein also confirmed that talks are indeed taking place regarding the Fedor vs. Barnett match and the fight should be signed some time within the next ten days.

Although an official date and venue has not been announced, the third installment of Affliction Entertainment’s MMA promotion is believed to be targeting the Honda Center in Anaheim, California as the venue and some time in early August is the rumored date.

With an official record of 30-1, Fedor Emelianenko is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. His most recent fight was a knockout victory over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski in 3:14 of the very first round at “Affliction: Day of Reckoning” back in January. Including the KO of Arlovski, Fedor has dispatched five former UFC champions.

Josh Barnett is 24-5 and on a four fight win streak. Barnett’s most recent fight was a dominating ground and pound destruction of Gilbert Yvel, who tapped out due to strikes at “Affliction: Day of Reckoning”.
