Kron Gracie was spectacular at the Pan Ams in 2008 winning 3 matches at weight and 5 in the absolute division, all by submission as a brown belt. After 51 submission victories in competition, and following a standout performance in Japan, Kron’s father Rickson Gracie promoted Kron to black belt in 2008.

As a black belt it was obvious that many people would be shooting for the young gun, and at the Worlds in 2008, Kron tasted defeat in his first black belt competition, losing to Alliance black belt Sergio Moraes by submission.

The young Gracie rebounded quickly, winning his first major competition as a black belt at the European Jiu Jitsu Championship in Portugal. GracieMag recently reported that Kron will be stepping back onto the mat on March 27th through the 29th for the Jiu Jitsu Pan American as a black belt for the first time.

With four Pan Am titles at different belt levels, expectations will be high for Kron to win his fifth as a black belt. Regardless of the results this year at the championship, at 20 years old, Kron will be a force at the highest level of Jiu Jitsu for years to come.
