UFC and Pride FC veteran Jeff “The Snowman” Monson (27-8 MMA) has agreed to fight Darrill Schoonover (7-0 MMA) in a Light Heavyweight superfight for the Xtreme Fight Championship organization out of Austin Texas.

The bout will decide the organization’s Light Heavyweight title and will take place on February 27 at the Austin Travis County Expo Center.

Monson has had problems outside of the ring, with recent charges stemming from spray-painting anarchy related graffiti on a government building, but has been all business inside the ring with wins over big names such as Ricco Rodriguez, Mark Kerr, and Kazuyuki Fujita.

Beyond fighting in MMA, Monson is also a decorated champion in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club submission wrestling championship.

Beyond his victories, he has also faced off with some of the biggest names in MMA such as Josh Barnett, Pedro Rizzo, Tim Sylvia, and Forrest Griffin.

Monson comes into this fight as the seasoned veteran, while Schoonover is fairly new to the MMA scene having just made his pro debut back in January of 2008. He is undefeated (7-0), with 3 TKO’s and 4 submission victories.

This is an interesting match up with both big men being comfortable and well versed on the ground with their submission games. On a personal note, Monson being an anarchist, will be squaring off with a former Army specialist. This fight will be a clash of personalities and it is highly unlikely that these two will b celebrating at the same after party together.

With two very talented fighters, both with very sound submissions, and both with no fear of an all out brawl, this is one fight that everyone should keep their eyes on.
