The UFC aired a promo during their last pay-per-view which showed light heavyweight champ Jon Jones saying he would “literally kill” Daniel Cormier if he were to ever spit on him. It was one of the greatest promotional videos the UFC has ever released. But Jones didn’t like it because it portrayed him in a negative light.

Jones talked about his surprise at the promo on Wednesday’s episode of UFC Tonight:

“At first I was a little offended that the UFC, someone that’s supposed to be backing my brand and making me look good, would post something like that for the general public to see. I don’t think it’s really healthy for the world to see the UFC champion say they’re going to kill someone. So that really took me off guard. I didn’t really think that was in my best interest. But it was for the UFC’s best interest. So I kind of had to swallow my pride. I said it.”

Embrace the dark side young Padawan, it will grant you unimaginable pleasures — and after all it seems to be who you really are.

If you missed the original interview that caught Jones making the death threat while he thought the mics were off, you can check that out below.

The UFC did release a Bad Blood promo online, but Jones’ death threat was removed from that one — unfortunately. UFC 182 will be held on Jan. 3 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
