ONE FC: RETURN OF WARRIORS is set to take place on February 2, 2013, live from Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Three Indonesian MMA fighters are among those set to meet in the ring. Leo Krishna, Zuli Silawanto and Antoni Romulo will carry the hopes of their people into the ring with them as they set to do battle. Indonesia has a population of 247 million and is a regular sports rival to the Malaysian people.
CEO of ONE Fighting Championship™ Victor Cui stated, “Indonesia is quickly emerging as a global super power on the world stage and also in MMA. Krishna, Silawanto and Romulo are just three of the many top Indonesian fighters that we signed to exclusivity. I expect that all three fighters will bring their “A” game come 2 February.”
Krishna is a submission fighter with an exceptional ground game. Fight fans can expect him to take to the mat in an attempt to finish off his Malaysian opponent, Peter “The Pride of Java” Davis.
Silawanto, in his first match outside of Indonesia versus an international challenger, steps into the ONE FC cage for the second time in his career. He does so with a background in kickboxing, Pencak Silat and Submission Wrestling. He will face the Malaysian hometown hero, Adam Kayoom, in a tough match before the widely pro-Malaysia crowd.
Romulo made his MMA debut, a win via TKO, in Bali, Indonesia in 2007, but has had to wait nearly six years to enter the cage again. His training has been extensively in BJJ with some cross-training in Chinese Sanda. Romulo is expected to make waves when all his frustration is unleashed on his opponent.
“Indonesia and Malaysia have always had a great sports rivalry and now it will extend into the fastest growing sport in the world – MMA. Krishna vs. Davis and Silawanto vs. Kayoom will be battles that Indonesian and Malaysian fight fans don’t want to miss as their national champions pit their skills in the largest MMA organization in Asia for the pride and glory of their country. I’m also excited to see how homegrown Indonesian wrestling champion Antoni Romulo does against an NCAA Division 1 Champion from the USA. This is a big test for these three great Indonesian warriors and I know everyone is looking forward to the excitement”, added Cui.
