FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Although infamous boxing promoter Don King knocked out the Shine Fights “Worlds Collide” main event between Ricardo Mayorga and Din Thomas this past weekend, it was actually the organization’s own fault which ultimately caused the show to get shut down according to Terrance Merriweather, the North Carolina Boxing Authority Superintendent.

The actual reason the North Carolina Boxing Authority cancelled the May 15 event was because  of concerns about the fighters’ safety and well-being. Specifically, Shine Fights officials did not provide the remainder of a bond required to cover fighter purses, and on top of that, they did not provide a ringside physician, MMAJunkie.com reported on Monday.

Shine Fights CEO Devin Price has stated the organization will continue operations and plans to hold an event this summer. However, the matchmaker for the organization, Ron Foster, has apparently resigned due to this debacle. ProMMAnow.com had just done a spotlight on Foster last week.
