PRO MMA (promma.info) has confirmed Greco-Roman Olympic silver medalist and political aspirant Matt “The Law” Lindland (21-6) has signed a three-fight contract with Strikeforce. Although, no opponent has yet been named, Lindland could have his first bout within the organization as early as October.

Having began his professional MMA career in 1997, the 39-year old veteran holds wins over such fighters as Jeremy Horn, Travis Lutter, Falaniko Vitale, Phil Baroni, and Pat Miletich to name a few.

Lindland was last in the ring against Vitor Belfort at “Affliction: Day of Reckoning” back in January. However, it was not his night and took “The Phenom” only 37 seconds to break “The Law” with a first round knockout.

Despite the brutal loss, Lindland has still won 10 of his last 13 bouts, and even put up a good fight and drew blood against the world’s number one heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko in April 2007.

Long considered one of the sport’s top 185-pounders, Lindland was ranked among PRO MMA’s (promma.info) top ten middleweights, and had been for some time, until his loss to Belfort.

As one of the founding members of Team Quest, along with Randy Couture and Dan Henderson, Lindland still runs the original Team Quest Fight Club in Gresham, Oregon.
