We here at PRO MMA (promma.info) told you almost two weeks ago that Mirko Filipovic would be returning to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Germany. For some reason the UFC remained tight-lipped on the subject; but no more.

The UFC made the official announcement today on their website that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will return to the Octagon against England’s Mostapha Al-Turk on the main card of “UFC 99: The Comeback” in Cologne, Germany on June 13th.

Due to a knee surgery he had earlier this year, this will mark “Cro Cop’s” first fight of 2009. The Croation stated he hopes to fight three times by year’s end. The terms and number of fights on “Cro Cop’s” contract with the UFC has not been disclosed.

The UFC clearly realized the benefit of having one of the most popular fighters in all of Europe fighting on their first card in Germany. “Cro Cop” is coming off a TKO win over Hong Man Choi at K-1 Dynamite last December.

Cage Rage veteran, Mostapha al Turk, made is UFC debut at UFC 92 in December 2008 against Cheick Kongo. Kongo defeated al Turk via TKO near the end of round one. Al Turk will be putting his 6-4 record up against the experience of “Cro Cop” who boasts a record of 24-6-2.
