X1: A Year in Review

In their busiest year to date X1 World Events showed why they continue to be Hawaii’s number one event. They put all of their titles on the line and crowned some new and exciting world champions, brought back pro boxing, they also introduced new venue’s like The Cirque and Palolo Hongwanji as well as added new features to their events like a concert, replacing the chairs with tables at the Blaisdell and the amazing aerialists of The Cirque Hawaii entertaining the fans between matches.

To highlight the year we will start off with the “Champions” event at the Blaisdell Arena. Maui product Lolohea Mahe continued his dominance of the HW division with a huge win over Des Miner.

Featherweight Champion Eddie Yagin defended his title with a three wound war against Big Island’s Dirty Dave Moreno. Mia St. John made her appearance in Hawaii short and sweet with a brutal KO win at just 44 seconds of the first round and Ron Waterman defeated Maui boy Analu Brash for the HW Title.

Hawaii MMA – X1 World Events Nov. 21 results

X1 World Events Mixed Martial Arts action took place at the O’Lounge Night Club in Hawaii on November 21, 2008. After their May event, the X1 staff decided to end the year with three smaller venues to showcase newer talent.

From these small shows, X1 has found themselves some new names to add to their Blaisdell shows in 2009. In September we saw pro fighters Vili Fonokalafi (250), Brad Tavares (185) and Justin Mercado (145) shine as did amateur standout Sean Sakata (170), In October Isaiah Cobb-Adams (140) made his comeback, while Kana Hyatt (135) and Brandon Visher (145) continued their winning ways. Amateur fighter Nalu Jones (205) and Jorey Baysinger (205) should tremendous heart in there three round war.

X1: Temple of Boom 2 hits Hawaii on Oct. 25

The X1 World Events – Temple Of Boom 2 is set to take place Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Palolo Hongwanji Temple. The card will feature 4 Pro MMA bouts, 3 Pro boxing matches and 10 amateur MMA bouts.

PRO MMA BOUTS

  • (Main Event) 135 lb Title Fight Mike Pedro vs Kana Hyatt
  • 145 lb Brandon Visher vs Reuben Del Rosario
  • 140 lb Gene Gregory vs Brysen Hansen
  • 145 lb Colin Mackenzie vs Isaiah Cobb-Adams

The 135 lb title fight is a rematch for the two fighters, with Mike Pedro winning the first contest via 1st round armbar. Undefeated 145 lb up-and-comer Brandon Visher will look to push his record to 5-0 against game opponent Reuben Del Rosario. Colin Mackenzie will square off against Isaiah Cobb-Adams with both fighters searching for their first victories. Rounding out the PRO MMA bouts will Be Gene Gregory and Brysen Hansen. Looking forward to an action packed night with lots of local talent being showcase.
