Clean sweep by Team England at M-1 Challenge

Hilversum, Amsterdam — After being passed over in the inaugural M-1 Challenge last year, Team England made up for lost time by clinching the Group A title following its 5-0 team victory over Spain. With the victory, Team England will continue on into the M-1 Challenge post-season.

England entered the night tied for the lead in Group A with Team France but left little to chance by sweeping Spain. By the time France took to the stage vs. Japan, it still had a chance to supplant England if they were able to pull off a sweep of their own vs. Japan. However, tie-breakers did not come into play as France’s 3-2 loss allowed England to take the Group A title with a 2-1 team record with France being eliminated and finishing the year with a 1-2 record.

Following coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter, Tom Blackledge set to return to M-1 Challenge

Amsterdam, Holland – When Team England submitted their roster for the June 6 best-of-five M-1 Challenge (www.M-1Global.com) matchup vs. France, light heavyweight Tom Blackledge was a noticeable absentee.

Following a successful M-1 debut this past April in Japan in which Blackledge submitted Tatsuya Mizuno with a rear naked choke at 3:22 of round 1, Blackledge emerged as one of England’s team leaders.

At the time, Team England indicated that Blackledge had been scratched due to injury. However, reports have surfaced that the Wolfslair Academy product was busy assisting teammate and close friend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as a coach during the recent taping of Spike TV’s hit reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
