A new bout has been added to the UFC on FOX 7 card as Lorenz Larkin (13-0) faces Francis Carmont (20-7) in a middleweight matchup. The event is set to take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif, on April. 20.
UFC officials recently confirmed the fight.
UFC on FOX 7 will feature a headline fight between UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson and challenger Gilbert Melendez. The main card will air on FOX with the prelims expected to air on FX and Facebook.
Lorenz Larkin last fought at the “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy” event in July 2012, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Robbie Lawler. Prior to that he dropped a second round KO loss against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine” in January 2012, but that result was later overturned to a No Contest after Lawal tested positive for Drostanolone. Larkin will no doubt look make a statement in his UFC debut with a big performance against Carmont.
Francis Carmont is currently riding a nine fight winning streak, most recently defeating Tom Lawlor via split decision at UFC 154 in November 2012. Prior to that he scored back-to-back second round submission victories over Magnus Cedenblad and Karlos Vemola during 2012, and a unanimous decision win over Chris Camozzi in his promotional debut at UFC 137 in October 2012. Carmont has the chance to extend his winning streak to ten by defeating Lorenz on April. 20.
