Bellator to make Rhode Island debut on November 16

Bellator Fighting Championships will bring its special brand of tournament mixed martial arts to Rhode Island for the very first time on Friday, Nov. 16.

Bellator 81 will be held at the University of Rhode Island’s Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I. and will air LIVE on MTV2 in Spanish language on mun2 and in commercial free HD on EPIX.

Tickets for Bellator 81 will be on sale beginning Sept. 7 and start as low as $30 for the general public and $20 for The University of Rhode Island students with student ID.

“The Ryan Center is an incredible arena that should play host to a great night of fights,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “The Northeast has always treated Bellator well, and I’m excited for the opportunity to bring Bellator to Rhode Island on November 16.”

No fights have yet been announced for this event but Bellator 81 is part of the promotion’s seventh season of tournaments and will feature fights in the featherweight (145 pound), lightweight (155 pound) and heavyweight (265 pound) divisions.

Bellator moves its programming from MTV2 to Spike TV starting January 2013.
