ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) reporter Joe Gugelman caught up with Richard Perez, Nick and Nate Diaz‘s longtime boxing coach, following Nick’s win over B.J. Penn at UFC 137 Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Perez thought Diaz looked good considering everything that happened leading up to the fight including not getting in as much sparring and ring time as he should have. Diaz is accustomed to sparring with WBO super middleweight champion boxer Andre Ward to prepare for his bouts but Ward was not available for this camp.

Penn is known to have some of the very best boxing in MMA and Perez talked about some of the specific things they worked on to prepare for “The Prodigy”. He also feels Diaz will be much better prepared when he faces Georges St-Pierre for the title, a bout tentatively set for Feb. 4, even if that have to fly in some sparring partners.
