It didn’t make last Saturday’s televised broadcast, but Nick Pace (6-1) reached pretty far into his bag of tricks to submit Will Campuzano (8-3) at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale in Las Vegas.

Pace came in a couple of pounds heavy at the weigh-in for the bout, the first scheduled bantamweight fight in UFC history. But that doesn’t take away from the interesting choke technique he used to force Campuzano to tap with only 17 seconds remaining in the fight.

As you can see below, Pace, trying to keep Campuzano in his half guard, threw his leg over the head as if working for a triangle. Instead, he slid his forearm under Campuzano’s chin and latched onto his leg with both hands to apply the pressure. An interesting move, and Campuzano probably didn’t realize he was in any danger with Pace’s leg over his head since he was in half guard. They say the hardest punches are the ones you don’t see coming. That probably goes for submissions, too. Well done, Mr. Pace.
