Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber will make his bantamweight debut against Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 50. The card will take place at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Aug. 18.

MMAJunkie reported the fight on Wednesday.

Faber won the WEC title even before Zuffa purchased the promotion. He defeated Cole Escovedo at WEC 19. He then successfully defeated the title five times. At WEC 36, Faber dropped the title when Mike Thomas Brown surprisingly stopped the champion in the first round. Since then, Faber has gone 2-2, with wins coming against Jens Pulver and Raphael Assuncao and losses against Brown and current champion Jose Aldo.

Mizugaki earned a shot to take on then WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres by winning five-straight fights under the Cage Force banner. Despite taking the fight on late notice, Mizugaki hung with Torres for the full five rounds and impressed many onlookers. Since then, he has defeated grapplers Jeff Curran and Rani Yahya, but dropped a decision to rising star Scott Jorgensen.

Versus will carry a live broadcast of the main card of WEC 50.
