“WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson” postponed until Oct. 10

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned through multiple sources that “WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson” originally scheduled to take place Sept. 2 in Youngstown, Ohio has been rescheduled for Oct. 10. WEC officials have recently confirmed the change.

According to reports, an undisclosed injury to Ben Henderson who was scheduled to fight Donald Cerrone in the main event is the reason the show is being moved to October. Henderson’s agent Jason Genet told mmaweekly.com that “(Henderson) had a slight physical issue that he had to deal with and the WEC and Cerrone were gracious enough to give us a little more time to make sure he’s 100 percent ready.” Genet would not discuss the specifics about the injury.

WEC makes Ohio debut on September 2 with Cerrone vs. Henderson

PRO MMA (promma.info) was notified by the WEC on Tuesday that Zuffa’s World Extreme Cagefighting organization will be coming to the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio on Wed., Sept. 2, 2009.

“WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson” will air live on Versus beginning at 9pm ET/6pm PT. Tickets for the event will go on sale starting Thurs., July 9 at 10am ET.

With lightweight champion Jamie Varner unable to defend his title due to a hand injury, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will face feared striker Ben Henderson for the interim lightweight title in the main event. The show will mark the WEC’s first visit to the state of Ohio.
