The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced Wednesday a rematch between former heavyweight champions Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir has been added to UFC 140, scheduled for Dec. 10 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

UFC President Dana White commented:

“Both men are known as two of the premiere submission specialists in the division but have shown dangerous striking skills as well.”

Nogueira (33-6-1, 1 NC) is coming off a first round knockout victory over tough rising star Brendan Schaub at UFC 134 last month. “Big Nog” was an underdog coming into the bout and most experts had picked Schaub to win.

Schaub rocked Nogueira early in the fight but the veteran maintained his composure and fired off about a 10-punch combo that ultimately sent Schaub face first and unconscious into the canvas.

Mir (15-5) has won his last two bouts, most recently defeating Roy Nelson via unanimous decision at UFC 130 back in May.

Mir and “Big Nog” first fought at UFC 92 in Dec. 2008. Mir became the first person ever to stop Nogueira, scoring a second round TKO due to punches and taking his Interim Heavyweight Title.

The UFC has also confirmed a welterweight bout between Brian Ebersole and Rory MacDonald has been added to the UFC 140 fight card as well.
