World Extreme Cagefighting confirms remaining bouts for Jan. 10 in Sacramento

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – In addition to a lightweight title unification bout between Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson, as well as Urijah Faber’s return against top featherweight Raphael Assuncao, World Extreme Cagefighting® proudly confirms eight bouts that will be included on a tremendous card headed to ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif. on Jan. 10. What’s more, WEC General Manager Reed Harris confirmed that former 145-pound champion Mike Brown will return to take on newcomer Anthony Morrison in what should be an explosive fight.

“Mike Brown is hungry to prove that he is still the best featherweight in the world,” Harris said. “He asked for us to put him in a fight as soon as possible against a world-class opponent. Morrison is a dangerous fighter and certainly someone that poses major problems for Brown. This is an incredible match-up.”

Lightweight champ Jamie Varner not happy with WEC marketing

WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner defends his title against Ben Henderson on Jan. 10 at WEC 46 in Sacramento.

Did you know the WEC has a show coming up on Jan. 10? It’s true. WEC 46 is taking place on Sunday, Jan. 10, at Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and it will air live on Versus. Do you know who is fighting in the main event?

Jamie Varner (16-2-2) will be defending his lightweight title against the extremely talented Benson Henderson (interim champ). However, according to Varner, there are many people who have no idea he is fighting in the main event, because the WEC has been so focused on promoting Urijah Faber.

The event is taking place in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento, so that could be one explanation, but Varner said this also happened when the WEC held their last San Diego show.
