Badr Hari stripped of Heavyweight Title

K-1 stripped Badr Hari of his Heavyweight Title due to his actions at the K-1 World Grand Prix. In the final, Hari stomped on the head of a downed Remy Bonjasky, leading to a disqualification  of the Moroccan “Bad Boy.”

Sadaharu Tanikawa, FEG President, indicated earlier in the week that K-1 could possibly punish Hari. Japanese news papers Sports Nippon and Nikkan Sports found out about the news of the decision to strip Hari of his title late Saturday night.

K-1 Rules Director Nobuaki Kakuda and Tanikawa also suspended the now former Heavyweight champion indefinitely. More disciplinary action may be handed down.

K-1 may soon be Kimbo-1… if he learns some geography

The fans who have been waiting to see Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson fight again probably got a little excited this past weekend when he appeared as a member of the broadcasting team for the K-1 World GP.

The former bodyguard to the pornography stars appears to be destined for stardom in the land of the rising sun. Many people think that he will have a meteoric rise to fame in Japan much the same way Bob Sapp did in the past. His look and charisma made him a star here in the states and he may prove to be even more marketable in Japan.

Whether he ends up continuing his MMA career in Dream or switches over to K-1, he will need to learn a few things about the country that houses both promotions. During last weekend’s telecast which aired on HDNet, Kimbo Slice, when asked what he thought about the fights replied, “First of all, I love the CITY of Japan…”

Badr Hari may face punishment from K-1

The fallout from Badr Hari’s illegal foot stomp of a downed Remy Bonjasky in the K-1 World Grand Prix final, may not have ended with the red card he received signaling his disqualification.

A recent statement made by K-1 producer Sadaharu Tanikawa indicates that the Moroccan may be punished for his actions.

“If we forgave Hari for such behavior, it would be insulting to all the other fighters. Giving him a red card means he will be fined his entire purse. On top of that, we will have to think of some further punishment after discussing this with [rules director] Nobuaki Kakuda.”
