M-1 Global issues new statement regarding UFC negotiations

On Friday morning, PRO MMA (promma.info) received the following statement from M-1 Global’s Co-Owner and President Vadim Finkelchtein:

“There have been recent reports stating that talks between M-1 Global and the UFC regarding Fedor fighting in the UFC have ended. Like some of the other reports that have surfaced, this is incorrect.

“It is unfortunate that so much incorrect information has been leaked to the public. It is M-1’s preference not to negotiate in public and we are unsure why people claim that Fedor and M-1 turned down a six fight, $30 million contract to fight in the UFC when no such offer was ever made.

Fedor Emelianenko addresses the media for first time since “Trilogy” cancellation

Anaheim, Calif. — In front of many leading members of the MMA media, former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko addressed the public Wednesday for the first time since Affliction announced last week that it was canceling its planned “Trilogy” pay-per-view event.

M-1 U.S.A. Vice President Jerry Millen opened the press conference held at the International Room inside the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort in Anaheim by revealing that Emelianenko will adorn the cover of an upcoming video game release in 2010.

“EA Sports will announce that (M-1 Global’s) Fedor Emelianenko will headline the EA Sports mixed martial arts fighter game due October next year, also along with (M-1 fighter) Gegard Mousasi and Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral,” Millen announced.

According to Aleksander Emelianenko, the brother of WAMMA Heavyweight Champion and former PRIDE Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko, Vadim Finkelchtein has been the source of trouble regarding
Fedor’s inability to come to terms with the UFC.

Finkelchtein is the President and co-owner of M-1 Global, the company that manages Fedor’s professional career. According to a new report at sports.ru, Aleksander states,

You can negotiate with the UFC. I know that they have sufficiently flexible contracts. And all this talk about the “strict” conditions of signing a contract with the UFC only come from Finkelchtein, who wants, through a contract with the UFC and Fedor to promote his own business.

Fedor Emelianenko to address the media during Wednesday press conference in Anaheim

Anaheim, Calif. – Ever since Affliction announced late last week that its “Trilogy” event scheduled for Aug. 1 had been canceled, the combat sports world collectively has waited for an official response from former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.

On Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT inside the DoubleTree Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., Emelianenko will address the media for the first time since last week’s sudden cancellation. During the press conference, Emelianenko will discuss the ramifications of the cancellation, comment on his future in the fight game, and respond to questions from members of the media.

President and Co-owner of M-1 Global and manager of Fedor Emelianenko, Vadim Finkelchtein, has issued his first official comments regarding Affliction’s cancellation of “Trilogy.”

One of the most pressing issues of course is when, where, and who will Fedor fight next. Surprisingly Finkelchtein has not ruled out the possibility of still fighting Josh Barnett.

“We are now with Fedor in the U.S. and we hope to make a decision about his next fight within the next few days,” Finkelchtein stated. “There are many business meetings and negotiations planned with all the major promotions. We will explore the possibility of Fedor fighting Barnett and will even look into whether the fight can take place as soon as August (since Barnett has not been suspended).”

Fedor responds to Barnett controversy – wants fight with Brett Rogers

Fedor Emelianenko along with his manager and M-1 Global owner and president Vadim Finkelchtein held a press conference with the Russian media on Thursday to address recent developments regarding the WAMMA Heavyweight Champion’s Aug. 1 fight at “Affliction: Trilogy.”

Fedor was originally scheduled to face Josh Barnett in the main event, however, with the fight only a week away, Barnett has been pulled from the card after testing positive for steroids.

Fedor spoke about his feelings regarding the incident, “I feel disappointed about this situation. But I will fight anyone who Affliction puts in front of me. I know a lot of fans waited for this fight to happen and I am sorry for them. I can’t do much about it now but I am in good shape, my training has been good and continues to go well.”

“The crazy Russians” call out Dana White

Yesterday, M-1 Global’s president, Vadim Finkelchtein, invited Dana White to meet Fedor at “Day of Reckoning”.

Finkelchtein, who is also Fedor Emelinenko’s manager said, “Dana White has a tendency towards arrogance and everything not Dana White is either crazy or stupid. All this stuff about us not wanting to work with UFC is just utterly and completely untrue.”

He continued, “We’ve always been completely open to basically working with anybody, including the UFC, because our goal has always been to put the greatest fighters against each other. And if the greatest fighter is a part of the UFC, fine, let’s put him up against our best guy and see how they do.”
