Karo Parisyan is set to take on Dustin Hazelett at UFC 106 on Nov. 21, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Another fight has been added to the UFC 106 card which is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin. Following a nine month suspension, Karo Parisyan will return to action for his second time this year to face Team Jorge Gurgel BJJ specialist Dustin Hazelett.

It could be said UFC veteran Karo Parisyan (18-5) is skating on thin ice. Although the Armenian American has been a staple of the Ultimate Fighting Championship since UFC 44 in 2003, he lost his lone 2008 fight via TKO to Thiago Alves, and then tested positive for painkillers following next fight in Jan. 2009 against Dong Hyun Kim, causing his split decision win to be overturned and ruled a no-contest.

Tito Ortiz signs UFC 106 contract to fight Coleman

For some reason, I’m digging on Tito getting back in the Octagon. Maybe it’s the intro to these videos he’s been releasing lately where he punches the camera. Anyway, here’s Tito signing his UFC 106 contract to fight Mark “The Hammer” Coleman on Nov. 21, 2009. Tito says he thinks Coleman has disliked him for … Read more

After some heavyweight shuffling, Cain Velasquez to face Ben Rothwell at UFC 104

Although not yet officially announced, UFC heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez (6-0) is expected to face veteran Ben Rothwell (30-6) at UFC 104 on Oct. 24 in Los Angeles, Calif.

Velasquez was originally going to face big hand man Shane Carwin at 104, but as we reported a couple of days ago, the UFC brass decided to go ahead and give Carwin a title shot against Brock Lesnar at UFC 106, thus leaving space for Rothwell to slide in.

Rothwell’s plans got changed as well. He had a fight with Chase Gormley set for UFC 104 that had been picked up from Affliction’s cancelled Aug. 1 event. Gormley is now expected to face Stefan Struve on the same Oct. 24 event.

Carwin expected to get next crack at Lesnar

Shane Carwin is expected to face Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title at UFC 106.
Shane Carwin is expected to face Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title at UFC 106.
It looks like a UFC heavyweight title shot is coming sooner rather than later for the big man Shane Carwin. According to MMA Madness, instead of Carwin facing Cain Velasquez at UFC 104 in October as expected, he will face Brock Lesnar at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

It will mark Lesnar’s second UFC Heavyweight Ttle defense after taking the belt from Randy Couture at UFC 91 in November of last year. Lesnar finished Couture with a second round TKO to win the title. He then vindicated his only loss by defeating Frank Mir at UFC 100 back in July with another second round stoppage.
