Dana White and Tito Ortiz make amends

Hell has not froze over yet, but it just might before we are done with this thing. In a strange turn of events, it seems UFC President Dana White and Tito Ortiz have kissed and made up.

Word of the reconciliation first surfaced from Tito during an interview with Tapout Radio on Thursday in which the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” stated, “I had a conversation with Dana last week…we kind of amended and squashed things, which is great. Dana showed the kind of person he is by apologizing to me and vice versa… We may not still like each other or whatever but we came to amends, which is awesome.”

The Lee Murray story

With the recent developments regarding “Lightning” Lee Murray, it seems appropriate to post this video of ESPN’s E:60 piece on him last year that gets pretty deep into who Murray is and the details surrounding what has been called “the biggest cash money heist in history.” They talk with some of Murray’s friends as well as Pat Miletich who he trained with and who he wrote to while in prison. Also discussed is his brief time in the UFC, his legendary street fight with Tito Ortiz, and the reason he fought in the UFC only one time.

The UFC’s 177 leaves a few out

Most MMA fans are getting caught up in the UFC 100 whirlwind. The promotion, along with Spike TV, has decided to narrow down the top 100 UFC fights of all time. 177 fights have already been selected, and fans will decide which of those will end up in the century club.

After the fan voting, highlights from the chosen bouts will air as part of a series set to debut on July 5th. Naturally, not every fight was going to make the initial cut to 177, but there have been two notable exceptions that have people talking and pointing their conspiracy theorists fingers straight at the UFC’s very own lightening rod, Dana White.

Since the fighters in the excepted fights are not going to show up in a Dana White video blog anytime soon, many fans perceive the fights being left out as designed disrespect. The two fights in question are Frank Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz and Andre Arlovski vs. Tim Sylvia 2.

Kevin “The Monster” Randleman has signed a contract to fight for the San Jose based professional mixed martial arts promotion, STRIKEFORCE (for real this time). The announcement that Randleman had been added to the STRIKEFORCE roster was made Saturday night, April 11th, at the “Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz” post-fight press conference in which PRO MMA (promma.info) was in attendance.

STRIKEFORCE CEO, Scott Coker, announced plans to put Randleman in the cage to fight “right away” which most likely means “The Monster” would appear on STRIKEFORCE’S June 6th card in St. Louis, although that is only speculation at this point and no opponents were named.

PRO MMA exclusive interview: Frank Shamrock

PRO MMA (promma.info) was on hand at the Shamrock Martial Arts Academy for Frank Shamrock’s media workout Wednesday in downtown San Jose, California. Shamrock (24-9-1) will face PRIDE FC and UFC veteran Nick Diaz (18-7, 1NC) at Strikeforce’s April 11th event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

The MMA legend took some time to sit down with PRO MMA to discuss Diaz and the upcoming bout. Shamrock also discussed the cut to 179, the new location of his gym, Tito Ortiz and the evolution of MMA.

PRO MMA: Frank, how has moving the gym to this new location downtown gone for you?
SHAMROCK: The only hard part was that we moved through Christmas which was hard to get volunteers. A lot of days moving but it’s fantastic, look at it! It is absolutely amazing. The energy in this place, the feel of it…everyone says it looks like the White House when you come in and then you are up in here it looks like a dungeon of sorts. It’s the kind of place I need. Hardcore, rugged, a little dirty and dusty but it’s good.
