A mixed martial arts (MMA) fight that area fans have been clamoring for will finally transpire on Friday, Sept. 25, when promising, unbeaten local favorites Thomas Longacre and Travis “The Dark Knight” Calanoc clash in one of the top fights on the Strikeforce Challengers card at SpiritBank Event Center in Tulsa, Okla. (SHOWTIME, 11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).

Longacre and Calanoc, both 4-0, are no strangers to each other. They may not be the best of friends, but the talented prospects have trained at the same gym and known each other for years.

Sarah Kaufman steps up to fight Miesha Tate at “Strikeforce Challengers” May 15

We here at PRO MMA (promma.info) broke the news to you last week that Kim Couture (1-1) pulled out of her “Strikeforce Challengers” fight with Miesha Tate (5-1) set for May 15th.

Strikeforce has now confirmed stepping up to fill the void will be undefeated power puncher Sarah Kaufman (8-0). The 135-pound bout between Kaufman and Tate will take place during the SHOWTIME televised portion of the inaugural “ShoMMA” event at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Kaufman will be a major step up in competition for Tate when compared to her originally scheduled opponent in Couture. Kaufman has had eight fights and has finished each opponent by (T)KO. No one has taken her the distance. Her last fight was against Sara Schneider on April 23 in the Palace Fighting Championship and Kaufman finished her off with punches early in round two.

Kim Couture set to fight Miesha Tate at ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers May 15th

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned from multiple sources that Kim “Sugar Free” Couture (1-1) has accepted a fight with Miesha “Takedown” Tate (6-1) as part of Showtime’s “ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers”, which will take place on May 15th in Fresno, California.

Couture, the wife of UFC legend Randy Couture, lost her very first MMA bout to Kim Rose on June 20th of last year by unanimous decision. Even in her defeat she gained a lot of respect and showed her toughness by finishing the fight with a broken jaw she received early in round one.
