Abel Cullum will defend Flyweight Title on Aug.1 – PRO MMA exclusive interview

Submission expert Abel “The Silent Assassin” Cullum is the 14-3 two-time King of the Cage Flyweight Champion. On Aug.1, 2009 Abel will defend his title against Richard Montano (10-6-1) at “KOTC: Gatekeeper.”

Their fight will serve as main event of the card which takes place at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino in Mescalero, N.M. Cullum will surely be looking for revenge as Montano was the first person to defeat the New Mexico native back in 2005 via unanimous decision.

PRO MMA (promma.info) spoke to Abel on Wednesday about his upcoming title defense and rematch with Montano. He also discussed his last bout at DREAM 9 and how he feels about fighting in Japan. He shared his thoughts on the WEC, gave his pick for Lesnar vs. Mir 2, and much more.

Evidently ring rust was not an issue as the athletic heavyweight submitted his opponent Jason Bedker via armbar just 69 seconds into the fight (not to mention he took the fight on ten days notice).

Here are the complete results for “KOTC: EL LOBO:”
