King of Sengoku – PRO MMA exclusive interview with Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal

Ryo Kawamura came to the SENGOKU 7 press conference with his King of Pancrase belt slung over his shoulder and carried another one of his title belts under his arm. All the accolades and awards did nothing to help Kawamura when he stepped into the ring against “King Mo,” Muhammed Lawal on Friday, March 20, 2009 in Tokyo.

It was Mo’s fourth professional bout and it was Kawamura’s fifteenth. However, to the untrained eye watching the fight, one would swear Mo was the veteran. “King Mo” one of the rare breed

PRO MMA ( first spoke with King Mo back in November ’08, the day after he defeated Fabio Silva at Sengoku’s Sixth Battle. Mo had only one professional MMA bout under his belt when he fought Silva, on the other hand, Silva had been fighting professionally since 2003 with fifteen fights and eleven wins to his credit. Mo dismantled the veteran via TKO just seconds into round three.

Probably even more impressive was Mo’s first professional fight which was taken on short notice. Mo got the call to go to Japan to fight Travis Wiuff at Sengoku’s Fifth Battle in September 2008.
