Mann Talk – Weekend preview featuring Shooto, XFO and Wrestling

Takeshi Inoue

This weekend could be considered the calm before the storm. Next weekend will be stacked with Strikeforce and the FCF women’s tournament. However, there are still some quality local cards and, of course, collegiate wrestling. Please support the future MMA champions by watching wrestling on the Big Ten Network. On Friday at 8:00 p.m. Indiana takes on Wisconsin and then on Sunday at 10:00 p.m. Ohio State faces Penn State (all times eastern).

Shooto The Way of Shooto 1
Takeshi Inoue vs. Gerald Lovato

Earlier this week Takeshi Inoue came out in the media and asked for a fight with Hatsu Hioki. Instead he gets a non-title fight against Gerald Lovato. Inoue might not really be a top-ten fighter, but he is still light years ahead of Lovato. His only real chance to win is to come out looking for the big shot. Look for Inoue to capitalized on a gassed out Lovato late and secure a TKO stoppage.
Pick = Takeshi Inoue

Deray Davis and Mark Miller weighed in for their Nov. 7 Strikeforce fight, however, due to time constraints, the fight did not happen.

Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed with ProMMA.info today, that both Mark Miller and Deray Davis not only received their show money, but each fighter was also given their win bonuses.

The decision was made once a subsequent fight could not be secured for each fighter on a local promotion’s upcoming event. This was the honorable thing to do for the San Jose based promotion and will go a long way in building integrity for the organization.

The welterweight fight between Miller and Davis was originally slated to be on the undercard of the Nov. 7 Fedor-Rogers event that took place in Hoffman Estates, Ill. and aired live on CBS.

Now that the teams have been finalized, we will finally get into the real competition on Season 9, and see who emerges victorious as the two nations collide.

Back at the training center, Bisping is shown training full speed and with high intensity with his fighters. Bisping explains that most of his fighters have significant experience on the U.K. circuit, as he briefly introduces his TUF coaches, who also happen to be his real coaches outside of the show.

Coach Bisping believes he has a great team that will simply outwork their U.S. counterparts, and questions just how hard Team U.S. is preparing for the competition, saying, “I have no idea how hard team Henderson is training, Team U.S., whatever you want to call them, I don’t know how hard they are training, and to be honest, I don’t really care.”
