Photos from Mariusz Pudzianowski’s MMA debut at “KSW 12”

On Dec. 11, 2009, five-time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski made his MMA debut in Warsaw, Poland, at “KSW 12.” Those who witnessed Pudzianowski’s complete annihilation of his opponent, Marcin Nahman, had to be impressed with the speed, power, and agility, the big man possessed.

Immediately following the bout, minds of MMA fans the world over went to work, imagining the possibility of what a Pudzianowski vs. Fedor, or a Pudzianowski vs. Lesnar fight might look like one day.

The gargantuan has only had one fight thus far. Let’s give the guy a chance to get some experience under his belt. He obviously knows the dedication it takes to be an elite level athlete, and if he continues to apply that focus to developing his fighting skills… he is going to be a hand full for anyone, to say the least.

Here are a few photos after the jump from the fight courtesy of our friend Artur Przybysz, who also interviewed Pudzianowski last week.

Mariusz Pudzianowski vs. Marcin Najman – KSW 12 fight video

Look out heavyweights! There’s a new beast in town! His name is Mariusz Pudzianowski and he just won his first MMA fight in Poland over Marcin Najman. Sure Najman was pretty much just a boxer and Pudzianowski was wearing shoes… but still… the dude does look impressive. The 5x “World’s Strongest Man” champion broke one … Read more

Mariusz Pudzianowski won his MMA debut at KSW 12 on Dec. 11.

On the eve of UFC 107 in Memphis, Tenn., a significant portion of the hardcore MMA world’s attention was turned toward Warsaw, Poland, tonight as five-time “World’s Strongest Man” Mariusz Pudzianowski made his MMA debut against professional boxer Marcin Najman at KSW 12.

Najman had said prior to the bout that he wanted to use his boxing technique to defeat Pudzianowski. However, the strong man gave him no such opportunity to stand there and throw punches. Pudzianowski started the fight by delivering brutal leg kicks to Najman. These are the same kicks that broke one of his sparring partner”s legs with one blow in preparation for this fight.

The leg kicks dropped Najman to the mat, from there, Pudzianowski used his massive arms and fists to pulverize the boxer with ground and pound until the referee was forced to stop the fight just 44 seconds into the first round. And just like that, Mariusz Pudzianowski won his professional MMA debut.

Pudzian mania hits MMA this weekend
Pudzian mania hits MMA this weekend

The weekend picks are back. I thought about letting this feature die, but after my horrible performance on the TUF 10 Finale (4-5 record, the only sub .500 of my career) I had to save face. This week we take a look at KSW 12, Jeff Monson‘s ability to fight in two places at once, Bitetti Combat and more. As always for UFC 107 picks check out the PROMMA.info staff picks coming out later this week.

Marcin Najman vs. Mariusz Pudzianowski
The five-time World’s Strongest Man champion will make his MMA debut this weekend. Standing in the way of a glorious debut is Marcin Najman, a boxer who once fought for the Polish Heavyweight boxing title. When the bout was first announced I had visions of Ray Mercer standing over Tim Sylvia’s limp body. However, I decided to check out Najman’s record. At the time he fought them, his opponents have a combined record of 53-218-7. Only two of his opponents had winning records, and he is 13-4. Pudzianowski should be able to push for a clinch and win by grinding out his opponent.
