UFC 95 bonuses: Sanchez, Stevenson, Thiago, and Maia earn $40,000

Main event fighters Diego Sanchez and Joe Stevenson, along with Paulo Thiago and Demian Maia each earned $40,000 bonuses for their performances at “UFC 95: Sanchez vs. Stevenson.” The bonuses were announced by the UFC at the post-fight press conference.

The $40,000 payouts were down from January’s UFC 94 $65,000 bonuses, but are consistent with what the UFC paid out during their last trip to the UK for UFC 93.

In the night’s main event, Diego Sanchez’s first fight at lightweight turned into a slug fest with Joe Stevenson for the entire 15 minute fight. Sanchez mixed his strikes well as Stevenson stalked him throughout the match.

Rampage gets 'KO of the night' bonus

UFC officials announced that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Rashad Evans, and Forrest Griffin were the winners of the $60,000 “Fight Night” bonuses.

Evans’ third round TKO over Griffin courtesy of ground and pound punches, not only brought him the UFC’s Light Heavyweight Title, but also a share of the UFC’s “Fight of the Night” bonus along with Griffin.

Jackson received his 60K “Knockout of the Night” bonus thanks to his dramatic KO victory over Wanderlei Silva, which saw Silva put to sleep following a left hook that put an immediate stop to the fight at 3:21 of round 1.

Dana White at UFC 87 Post-Fight Press Conference (audio)

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – UFC 87 was a huge success on many levels from ticket sales to the fights themselves. The Target Center in Minneapolis, where the event was held, set a new record gate of $2.2 million dollars with 15,082 attendees.

Dana said, “Georges St. Pierre put on an amazing performance against a guy (Jon Fitch) who would not quit…he took him down at will…GSP looked unstoppable.

And when your boss says this about you, it’s a damn good day: “When Brock said he wanted to fight in the UFC, I told him this isn’t the place to learn how to fight…but he said he wanted to test himself against the best…Heath Herring has a ton of experience, big fights with some of the best fighters in the world…Brock Lesnar looked unbelievable tonight. I was blown away with how well he looked.”

According to Dana, Minneapolis is the best kept secret in America and maybe the world. That’s interesting…I thought that was Lyoto.

Do you see the fight between B.J. Penn and Georges St. Pierre being the next fight for them both? “Definitely,” said White.
