Labeled by UFC President Dana White as the “biggest heavyweight fight ever,” undefeated 12-0 Shane Carwin will try his best to take the crown away from UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 on July 3 in Las Vegas.
Although UFC fans were privy to some incredible fights Sunday night with “UFC on Versus 1”, just six days later, on March 27, UFC 111 takes place in Newark, N.J., and airs live on pay-per-view. It will mark Lesnar’s second UFC Heavyweight Ttle defense after taking the belt from Randy Couture at UFC 91 in November of last year. Lesnar finished Couture with a second round TKO to win the title. He then vindicated his only loss by defeating Frank Mir at UFC 100 back in July with another second round stoppage.

Here’s an interesting video about the Wolf’s Lair, the new home of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Cheick Kongo in England. Apparently the Wolf’s Lair does drug testing (steroids, etc.) on their own fighters to avoid any surprises. This weekend will give us a better idea of how effective their training has been on Rampage.

We are now less than two weeks away from what is being billed as “the biggest fight in UFC history.” That is an enormous title to live up to; but for different reasons, if there are two MMA fighters who can live up to the challenge it is these two Octagon warriors. On the one hand we have Randy “the Natural” Couture; the wise and weathered veteran who has seen it all, been through it all, and sits upon the throne as King of the UFC.
But a famed warrior reminiscent of Conan has burst through the castle doors and challenged the ruler to a duel in front of the whole kingdom. This warrior is bigger, faster, stronger and in many ways the antithesis of our battle-hardened king. It will be a fight for the ages, for all the glory and all the treasure the Master of the Octagon deserves.
