High-temp card to rock MFC 24: Heat XC

The Maximum Fighting Championship smashes its way into the 2010 campaign with MFC 24: Heat XC – a special joint promotion show featuring fighters from the MFC and Heat XC, the two organizations under the umbrella of Pavelich Sports Inc.

MFC 24: Heat XC will take place on Friday, February 26 at the River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta, and will be streamed live online at www.maximumfighting.com.

An 11-fight card has been set for MFC 24 with the event headlined by what promises to be a fast-paced lightweight bout between “The Texas Gunslinger” Yves Edwards (36-15-1) and Derrick “The Eraser” Noble (25-12-1).

England’s Tom “Kong” Watson signs with Maximum Fighting Championship

The Maximum Fighting Championship has set MFC 24: Heat XC as the right date to debut its new middleweight prospect.

Tom “Kong” Watson (10-3) joins the MFC after making a sizeable name for himself fighting in his native England. The Southampton product, who of late has been training alongside Georges St. Pierre in Montreal, has set a big target for his first fight in the MFC by taking on hometown hero Travis Galbraith (17-6). The pair will face off on Friday, February 26 at the River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta.

Undaunted by the fact he’s squaring off against Galbraith in front of his own supporters, Watson offered a simple message to his upcoming rival – and future ones as well.

Cory MacDonald wins main event split decision at “Heat XC 3: Ruthless” in Edmonton, Alberta

Heat XC, the top developmental league for the Maximum Fighting Championship held “Heat XC 3: Ruthless” on Fri., July 17, 2009 at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton, Alberta.

Two of Canada’s top welterweight prospects went at it in the main event with Cory MacDonald putting an end to Thiago Goncalves 11-fight win streak with a tough fought split decision victory. Keep an eye on Cory MacDonald as a definite future UFC candidate.

Also on the card was Jason MacDonald protogé, Evan Sanguin, who picked up a win over Chris Puleo with a first round guillotine choke, and popular Calgary fighter Paapa Inkumsah defeated David Krawczyk with a triangle choke in round one.  Full results after the jump…
