Howard Davis Jr. gets into the MMA promotion business with “Fight Time Promotions”

American Top Team Head Boxing Coach and 1976 Olympic Gold Medal winner Howard Davis Jr. helps train some of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world. He has been with American Top Team since its inception about six years ago in Coconut Creek, Florida.

Davis works on a regular basis with such fighters as the WEC’s Featherweight Champion Mike Brown and the UFC’s number one welterweight contender Thiago Alves. One of the sport’s greatest strikers of all-time Chuck Liddell even sought the help of Davis prior to his most recent fight against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 97 (although too little too late).

After being submerged in the sport and falling in love with MMA and it’s fighters, Howard Davis Jr. has now decided to go into the MMA promotion business with “Fight Time Promotions, LLC.” The promotion will debut fall 2009 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with their first fight card entitled “USA vs. Brazil.”

American Top Team Head Boxing Coach Howard Davis Jr. – PRO MMA exclusive interview

When we here at PRO MMA ( learned that one of the legendary strikers in the sport of mixed martial arts, Chuck Liddell, after years and years of doing things the same way, sought the help of a new trainer to help him with his hands it got our attention. Who was this guy and why did Chuck need him?

Well, “this guy” was a 1976 Olympic gold-medalist boxer and Head Boxing Coach at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida named Howard Davis Jr. and Chuck needed him frankly because he was no longer getting away with some of the bad boxing habits that were easy to overlook when he was knocking people out. 

Although from the old school of boxing, Howard Davis Jr. has fallen in love with the sport of MMA and its fighters. In fact, he has started a new MMA promotion entitled “Fight Time Promotions” which has already secured a TV deal and will launch this fall.
