Gleison Tibau steps in to fight Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 18

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned from multiple sources that Gleison Tibau (16-6) will step in for the injured Efrain Escudero to fight Jeremy Stephens (14-4) at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1st. Escudero, who won the lightweight division on the latest season of TUF, suffered a rib injury in training and cannot compete.

Tibau comes from the American Top Team and has gone 4-3 in the UFC. In his last fight he submitted Rich Clementi with a guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night 17 on February 7th. While his fight was on the under card, his upcoming opponent, Jeremy Stephens (3-3 in UFC) fought in the main event on the same card. Stephens lost to Joe Lauzon by armbar in the second round.

UFC coming to Nashville, Tennessee April 1

Jeremy "Lil' Heathen" Stephens will fight in TN

Nashville, Tennessee will finally get the event it has been looking forward to for years. The UFC will bring its promotion to Music City on April 1, 2009 for Ultimate Fight Night 18.

The event will broadcast live on SPIKE TV and will serve as prelude to episode one of The Ultimate Fighter season nine. This season of the Ultimate Fighter will feature Team U.K., coached by Michael Bisping vs. Team USA, coached by the UFC 93 winner of Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson.

A fight between The Ultimate Fighter season 8 lightweight winner, Efrain Escudero, and Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens has been confirmed for the Ultimate Fight Night 18 card in Nashville. Stephens, who is coming off a KO win over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 91, also has a win over Cole Miller at Ultimate Fight Night 12.

The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale: play-by-play and live results

The Ultimate Finale- “Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir”- Preview

The UFC will be broadcasting The Ultimate Finale for season 8 live on Spike TV on Saturday December 13th at 9 PM Eastern.  Sandwiched between their “Fight for the Troops” event last evening, and the blockbuster “UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008”, the show will be the 2nd of 3 shows for the UFC in the month of December to close a busy year for the organization.

This season will mostly be remembered for the antics of Junie Allen Browning, but for MMA hardcores, it was all about the fighting.  Phillipe Nover showed promise early garnering praise from everyone including Dana White, and proved he was the one to beat by dispatching of all comers on his way to a spot in the finals facing Efrain Escudero.

TUF 8- The Semi-Finals Part II

It’s time for the second show, and after this final and 12th episode, we will know the match ups for the Ultimate Finale.  Junie is involved in a scuffle outside of the Octagon once again, so stick around to see if a third time is a charm for the hot headed young fighter.

Krzysztof Soszynski and Vinny Magalhaes, both of Team Mir, will face off for the right to fight Ryan Bader in the Light Heavyweight finals.  Krzysztof informs us that a black belt in jiu jitsu becomes a brown belt when he gets hit, and turns into a white belt after taking combinations.

“The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir”- Episode 4 Re-Cap

Tonight it’s the Lightweights that take center stage, and not just as it relates to the fight for this week. The show starts with the guys watching UFC 84: Ill Will, with BJ Penn vs. Sean Sherk. It’s not long during the viewing before the “Junie and Shane Nelson Show” overshadows the pay per view event. The fun starts with a bottle of wine then quickly escalates to shots of Tequila. Junie starts antagonizing anybody from the Red team, by talking smack and throwing peanuts at anyone within throwing range.

Soon after, Junie is moving to the light heavyweights and starts talking smack to Kyle Kingsbery. Kyle throws peanuts back at Junie in retaliation, and Junie follows up with a nice drink to Kyle’s face followed by the glass itself. The glass breaks and cuts Kyle on his arm and we are off to the races.
