UFC officially announces Cro Cop vs. Al-Turk for Germany

We here at PRO MMA (promma.info) told you almost two weeks ago that Mirko Filipovic would be returning to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Germany. For some reason the UFC remained tight-lipped on the subject; but no more.

The UFC made the official announcement today on their website that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will return to the Octagon against England’s Mostapha Al-Turk on the main card of “UFC 99: The Comeback” in Cologne, Germany on June 13th.

Due to a knee surgery he had earlier this year, this will mark “Cro Cop’s” first fight of 2009. The Croation stated he hopes to fight three times by year’s end. The terms and number of fights on “Cro Cop’s” contract with the UFC has not been disclosed.

Overeem vs. CroCop not happening on New Year’s eve

Fans expecting to see Mirko Cro Cop vs Alistair Overeem 2 on the New Year’s Eve Dynamite card will have to wait. The bout, while never officially signed, reportedly has been called off.

Overeem dominated much of the first heavyweight bout before several shots to CroCop’s groin caused their DREAM 6 bout to end as a No Contest. While the fight may have occurred back in September theĀ  war of words hasn’t let up.
