Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida to headline TUF 9 Finale

PRO MMA (promma.info) received word on Monday from the UFC that Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez will face Clay “The Carpenter” Guida in The Ultimate Fighter season 9 Finale main event set for June 20 at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bobby Lashley denies return to pro wrestling, at least for now

Former WWE Champion and recent MMA star Bobby Lashley sat down with Pro MMA Radio (prommaradio.com) and host Larry Pepe to discuss Ken Shamrock, the Jason Guida fight, WWE, Brock Lesnar, and all the new things he learns as a fighter on a daily basis.

Bobby Lashley has shown his knack for hard work as a member of the United States Army, as a three time National wrestling champion at Missouri Valley College, and now as a professional MMA fighter.

Lashley was originally scheduled to fight UFC veteran Ken Shamrock on Saturday, March 21 in Pensacola, Florida at “March Badness”. Both fighters agreed to the fight only about three weeks prior to the scheduled match and were ready for battle.

Stevenson Vs. Diaz set for TUF 9 finale

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned that Joe “Daddy” Stevenson (29-10) will return to the Octagon on June 20th at The Ultimate Fighter season 9 finale against Nate Diaz (10-3). Stevenson is coming off a loss to Diego Sanchez at UFC 95 who will also be on the finale against Clay Guida.

Since winning TUF 2, Stevenson has gone 5-4 in the UFC, with notable victories over Yves Edwards, Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard. However, he has struggled to win fights over the lightweight elite, losing to Sanchez, Kenny Florian and BJ Penn. This fight may be it for Stevenson in the UFC should he lose to Diaz.

PRO MMA (promma.info) has learned that Diego Sanchez (22-2) will meet Clay Guida (25-9) at the TUF 9 finale scheduled for June 20th in Las Vegas at the Palm’s Hotel and Casino. This will be Sanchez’s second fight in the lightweight division; he defeated Joe Stevenson in his first bout at lightweight by UD at UFC 95 in Febuary.

His opponent, Clay Guida most recently won a split decision over TUF 5 winner Nathan Diaz at UFC 94. Now he will get the chance to take out another TUF winner in Sanchez, who was the victor of the first ever season’s middleweight divison.

Breaking News: Thomson vs. Melendez 2 set for Strikeforce in April

Sources close to PRO MMA (promma.info) confirmed that Josh “The Punk” Thomson and Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez will meet for the second time on Strikeforce’s April 11th card.

Thomson and Melendez fought on June 27th last year at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. The two lightweights battled for five full rounds, with Thomson earning the Unanimous Decision victory and the Strikeforce 155 pound title.

KJ Noons had been offered to fight “The Punk” in a Elite XC- Strikeforce unification bout; however, Noons elected to continue to pursue his boxing career.

UFC 94 Bonuses: Two bouts share “Fight of the Night” honors, while Machida walks away with “Knockout of the Night”

The UFC announced the bonuses for “Fight of the Night”, and for “Knockout of the Night” at the post press conference following Saturday night’s “UFC 94: St. Pierre vs. Penn II” event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The bonuses for tonight’s fighters were $65,000, and were issued to John Howard, Chris Wilson, Clay Guida, and Nate Diaz for co-Fight of the Night honors, while Lyoto Machida earned every cent of his 65K with his utter destruction and KO of the previously unbeaten Thiago Silva.

“UFC 94: St. Pierre vs. Penn II” started off with all of the undercard fights ending in decision. The Chris Wilson vs. John Howard fight was selected as “Fight of the Night” from the undercard but would share the honors with Clay Guida and Nate Diaz.
