UFC President Dana White hyped up an incredible KO on this weeks episode of TUF. It lived up to the hype when Uriah Hall put Adam Cella to sleep with a spinning headkick that put him out cold.
As a reminder Team Sonnen scored the first victory on the last episode and they picked Uriah Hall to fight Adam Cella next.
The episode opens with Cella and Hall talking and Cella says to Hall they may end up having the most exciting fight of the season because they both like to stand.
With Coach Chael Sonnen getting the privilege of picking the first fighter for his team in episode 1, Jones got the privilege of being able to pick the first fight.
To represent his team, Jones selects 30-year-old Gilbert Smith (5-1) of Colorado Springs, Colo. to take on 24-year-old Luke Barnatt (5-0) of Cambridge, England.
It’s a bit of an odd match-up and weird pick from Coach Jones because of the significant height advantage the 6-foot-4-inch Barnatt has over the 5-foot-9-inch Smith.
The first episode of season 17 of the UFC’s long-running reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” is in the books. The TUF 17 special two-hour premiere aired Tuesday night on FX and featured 28 fighters facing off for the opportunity to train under the tutelage of coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen and ultimately win a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The Ultimate Fighter season 17 will debut Tuesday, Jan. 22, on FX at 8 p.m. ET. Twenty-eight middleweight fighters will compete for a six-figure multi-fight contract with the UFC.
