Here are our exclusive photos from “UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez” in Memphis, Tenn. Most of the photos are from the post-fight press conference. Kenny Florian, Frank Mir, Jon Fitch, and Stefan Struve were the first fighters to arrive at the presser. And after some time, lightweight champion B.J. Penn came in carrying his championship belt.
It was Penn’s birthday (12-13-78), and what a way to celebrate, by defending his title in one of the best performances of his career. Penn’s mother and family were at the presser to support their champion.
UFC President Dana White looked a bit odd wearing a ball cap, but it was a Tiger Woods hat to show his support for the golfer. White said that people needed to leave Tiger alone, that what he does in private is his own business. PHOTO GALLERY AFTER THE JUMP (click pics to enlarge)…

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Never lacking in self confidence, Diego Sanchez was hoping for a passing of the guard coming into his title shot with UFC Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn. The chants of “YES!” were there, as were the mean mugs, but all of the scary faces in the world could not save Sanchez from the brutal, lopsided beating that he received from Penn.
Penn used his superior boxing skills and hand speed to consistently punish the very game Sanchez throughout the five championship rounds of the bout. When Penn wasn’t landing big shots and counter left hooks, he was easily defending “Nightmare’s” best attempts of getting the fight to the ground.
It appeared early on, that the fight might not even make it out of the first round. As Sanchez looked to get his range, Penn stepped in and dropped Sanchez with a right hand. Penn was looking for the finish, unleashing a barrage of punches as the referee watched closely.

Although the UFC’s live stream video player failed once again, our friends at the FedEX Forum in Memphis tweeted us the weigh-in results. There were chants in the audience of “Fix the scales!” as most of the fighters seemed to be coming in at least 1⁄2-1lb. over weight on their first attempt.
