Werdum denies departure from UFC

Fabrico Werdum’s loss to Junior dos Santos in UFC 90 seems to not only have affected his dream to fight for the UFC’s Heavyweight Title but has also ended his future in the organization.

Reports from the U.S. press state that the UFC wanted to renegotiate the contract of the Jiu-Jitsu and the ADCC champion, but the parties failed to reach an agreement and that negotiations ended with the UFC deciding to terminate Werdum’s contract.

“I’m surprised by the news. My sister is my manager and she’s the one that deals with the UFC and she always contacted me first before making any decision.

From what I know the UFC have not contacted her.

White Boy Society responds to Hughes photo

Melvin Costa

by:  Matt De La Rosa

The white pride website that posted a photo of Matt Hughes holding up a T-shirt with racist implications autographed by the nine time champion has refuted claims that the former UFC welterweight champion supports or endorses their racist product.

Here is the response from the White Boy Society:

To whom it may concern,
Matt Hughes is not a member or supporter or associated with the White Boy Society in any way. The photograph was taken at a public autograph signing at Dales Harley-Davidson in Mt. Vernon, IL. Matt Hughes was asked after autographing 3 shirts to hold one up for a picture for our website which he did then he was rushed off to sign more autographs.

UFC and Fabricio Werdum part ways

by: Matt De La Rosa

Don’t expect Fabricio Werdum to become a heavyweight gatekeeper or stepping stone in the UFC. MMAWeekly has reported Werdum’s contract negotiations with the UFC have ceased.

After a knockout loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 90, any leverage Werdum had going into negotiations ended the minute he hit the canvas in Chicago.

With rising stars such as Cain Velasquez and Shane Carwin, Werdum’s 2-2 record in the Octagon made him an expendable commodity in the UFC’s eyes.

Had Werdum defeated the UFC newcomer Dos Santos two weeks ago, many believed he would get the first crack at the winner of the four man tournament between Couture / Lesnar and Nogueira / Mir for the heavyweight title.

Filho moving to L.A. – Wants rematch then a move to LHW

by:  Jack Bratcher

Former WEC Middleweight Champion, Paulo Filho, was clearly not himself on Oct. 5 at WEC 36 when he gave up a unanimous decision to Chael Sonnen and lost his title.

It was Filho’s first professional loss in seventeen fights since turning pro in 2000. It was a highly uncharacteristic performance that left everyone scratching their heads in confusion.

The good news is Paulo Filho is taking the loss exactly the way you would expect a champion to take it. Filho told Tatame on Thursday, ““What can I do, it’s sad… The fact is that I have no excuses, he (Sonnen) went there and did his job to neutralize me and that’s what happened, he did the right job and he has all merits… It was good to give me a new spirit.”
