World Extreme Cagefighting confirms remaining bouts for first ever WEC event in Chicago

WEC 40 takes place on Sunday, April 5, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. PRO MMA ( received confirmation today on the complete fight line up for this event. The main event features a WEC Bantamweight Title fight between Champion Miguel Torres (35-1) as he takes on Shooto and Cage Force veteran, Takeya Mizugaki (11-2), who will be making his WEC debut. 

Also on the main card is a featherweight match-up with “The Big Frog” Jeff Curran (35-10-1) taking on Team Alpha Male prospect Joseph Benavidez (9-0). Manny Tapia (10-1-1) also returns after giving up a second round TKO to Miguel Torres at WEC 37. Tapia will be trying to get back in the win column against Akitoshi Tamura (12-7-2).

Branden Lee Hinkle returns to the cage versus Chris Tuchscherer at Beatdown 4 on March 21

PRO MMA ( was informed on Tuesday of the return to action of MMA veteran, Branden Lee Hinkle, who is taking on the incredibly tough Chris Tuchscherer in a heavyweight main event title fight for SNMMA. M-1 Global releases official statement regarding “Baby Fedor’s” positive steroid test

We reported to you late Tuesday evening that Kirill Sidelnikov, also known as “Baby Fedor,” had tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanozolol during testing which took place at Affliction: Day of Reckoning when he fought Paul Buentello on January 24, 2009. Early Wednesday morning PRO MMA ( received the following statement from Sidelnikov’s management regarding the Russian’s steroid use and his subsequent suspension:

M-1 Global officials first learned that Kirill Sidelnikov failed his post-fight screening for performance enhancing drugs when it was informed late last week by the California State Athletic Commission.

Immediately after the company was notified, an internal investigation was launched. As a part of the investigation, M-1 Global officials spoke with Kirill and asked him to explain his position.

Rosters and lineups for 2009 M-1 Challenge opener on Feb. 21 in Seattle released

'Day of Reckoning' standout, Bobby Green, will appear at the M-1 opener on Feb. 21

M-1 Global officials have finalized rosters and matchups for the 2009 “M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction” season opener set to take place on February 21 in Seattle, Washington at the Emerald Queen Casino.

Matchups for the stacked 15-bout opener include the return of the Imperial Team (formerly known as “Russia Red Devil”), the 2008 M-1 Challenge champions, who will begin the defense of their crown in a best-of-five matchup against Team South Korea.

The opener will also feature the debut of Team USA West, managed by M-1 Vice President of Legal Affairs Steve Bash and renowned California-based promoter Roy Engelbrecht.
