UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote – Kinohi’s picks

by:  Kinohi Abaro

Anderson “Spider” Silva (22-4) vs Patrick “Predator” Cote (13-4)
After beginning his career in the UFC 0-4, Cote has rebounded with 4 straight victories to earn his shot at MW King and consensus P4P #1, Anderson Silva. Underdog Patrick “Predator” Cote will look to test his granite chin against the sledge-hammer like fist, knees, and shins of the “Spider” Anderson Silva. Many fans and experts believe Cote doesn’t deserve a title shot, nor does he stand a chance. Anderson Silva does not share the same sentiment as fans, the humble Brazilian respects Patrick Cote and the skill set that he brings to the table and will not make the mistake of looking past his opponent.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller retires?

Say it isn’t so! One website at least is reporting that wild and crazy guy known throughout the world of MMA as Jason “Mayhem” Miller is retiring.

We have no idea how credible this is but TheGarv.com put it like this:

Jason “Mayhem” Miller has ended his fighting career. Win or lose, Mayhem was always a very exciting fighter and his sense of humor is one of the best in MMA. The guy is hilarious. Confirming his retirement, Miller said: “I made enough money, I don’t need to fight anymore.” The good news is that Miller will still be covering the sport of MMA.

At only 28 years of age, it definitely seems early for Miller to retire and it’s fairly doubtful he made enough money from fighting to retire at this stage of his career.  This announcement certainly comes out of left field and makes little sense.  Knowing the type of mayhem Miller likes to cause, this could very well be a practical joke or at the very least more of a break than a retirement.

The other side of Junie Browning

Making the biggest impact on this season of The Ultimate Fighter has to be Junie Allen Browning, a 23 year old Kentucky rough neck who’s personality is defnitely “on the edge.”  He can flip from “chill to kill” at the drop of a hat.  Nicknamed, “The Lunatik”, one doesn’t have to wonder how he got that moniker.

Junie is the young fellow Dana White was referring to when he said, “He makes Chris Leben look like Mother Teresa.”  Junie also talks a big game and the funny thing is, he just might have the skills to back it up…we shall soon see.
