Bellator Fighting Championships signs undefeated MMA prodigy Jacob ‘Tick-Tock’ McClintock

Bellator Fighting Championships announced today the exclusive signing of undefeated mixed martial artist Jacob “Tick-Tock” McClintock, who will compete in Bellator’s welterweight (170 lb.) division.

McClintock, 21, of the heralded Arizona Combat Sports gym in Tempe, Ariz., has a professional record of 6-0 and has been identified by several top MMA publications as one of the sport’s future stars.

Sherdog.com called him “the next big thing to come out of Arizona Combat Sports,” which has produced such elite MMA talents as Jamie Varner, Ryan Bader and Joe Riggs. BloodyElbow.com, meanwhile, said that McClintock “definitely has the makings to become a future champion in any of the larger organizations.”

CHICAGO (December 9, 2009) – Bellator Fighting Championships announced Wednesday the signing of highly touted MMA prospect Ben Askren to an exclusive long-term agreement.

Askren is a U.S. Olympian who competed in the 2008 Beijing Games in freestyle wrestling. While wrestling at the collegiate level at the University of Missouri, Askren won two NCAA Division I titles. Since announcing his plans to cross over into professional mixed martial arts after the conclusion of the Beijing Games, Askren has been one of the most sought-after free agents in the sport.

“Bellator XII” official results – Alvarez and Lombard crowned champions in finals

The final event of the 12-week inaugural season of the Bellator Fighting Championships took place on Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. “Bellator XII” was headlined with the middleweight and lightweight tournament finals, with the winner of each taking home $100,000 in grand prize money.

In the middleweight finals, Hector Lombard dominated Jared Hess with solid stand up and takedown defense until finally opening a cut on Hess that ultimately led to a TKO doctor stoppage in round 4, making Lombard the new Bellator Middleweight Champion.

Lyman Good is the new Bellator Welterweight Champion

It took just a minute and twenty-three seconds for Lyman Good to defeat Omar De La Cruz with heavy punches, improve his record to 10-0, stake his claim as the very first Bellator Welterweight Champion, and pocket himself a cool $100,000 in the process.

“Bellator XI” took place Friday, June 12 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.. To make it to the finals, Good defeated Hector Urbina at “Bellator II” and Jorge Ortiz at “Bellator VI.” He won three fights in three months during the twelve week inaugural Bellator tournament season.
