John Cena is in the weight loss game now. This press release was circulated earlier this week and posted over at Lordsofpain. It is interesting that well known wrestling stars like John Cena and DDP are tapping in to this market, a place where pro wrestling hasn’t really been. Steroid allegations and investigations tend to squash any aspirations there, but with the WWE’s publicized “Wellness Policy” it isn’t too surprising that this is possible.
In a recent video posted on Youtube, pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan cut an old school promo with lots of “Let me tell you something brother” to go around. The video is in support of the New England Patriots and Hogan even goes as far as to promise them a championship belt. Hogan has been alternating back and forth between the TNA and WWE promotions. A stare down, for those who do not know the term, is when two fighters square off, usually for a photo opportunity before a fight. Some say that the stare down after weigh-ins is an art form and maybe one of the best parts of an MMA showdown. There have been some memorable ones like Wanderlei Silva vs everyone, Clay Guida vs. Diego Sanchez, and some not so great like Heath Herring vs. Yoshihiro Nakao. Herring knocked Nakao out cold after Nakao kissed him during a face to face pre-fight briefing from the referee. Pro MMA Now takes a look at some of the masters of the art and one might surprise you.

Despite the whirlwind of rumors concerning his return to the UFC, Brock Lesnar will reportedly return on tomorrow night’s WWE RAW from Richmond, Virginia. Lesnar has a unique deal with WWE that only requires him to attend only a fraction of events compared to what other WWE performers have to show up for. The last PPV Brock appeared in for WWE was Summer Slam back in August where he defeated CM Punk.
Is Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC? there is a claim that he somehow got a deal with WWE that would allow him to do a fight with UFC. This claim is being denied by many inside WWE but other people close to Lesnar insist it’s true. Many think this is a bargaining chip for Lesnar to hold over the professional wrestling giants. Lesnar last appeared during a WWE event earlier this year at Summer Slam.

MMA PPV buys have always been a crap shoot in terms of predicting the final numbers. 2013 sure had its share of ups and downs, too. This year proved that being a champion still doesn’t equal big numbers like in the case of UFC 163 Aldo vs. Jung. That PPV did an abysmal 170,000 buys. UFC 165 Jones. Gustafsson, did 270,000 buys and Jones is one of the UFC’s most high profile athletes.
